  1. One problem I saw a bit of and worried about earlier is when Allen & Collins are out there together (they are listed as 6'1" in the program but are closer to 5'8"). Their guards penetrated and had quite a size advantage. Egbunu did his best to clean up but I still think they are too small to have out there together on a regular basis. Nice to see the bigs get the ball down low. Couldn't do that against Detroit.
  2. Just getting in from the game. Don't know about watching it on TV but it was an exciting game to attend. Students showed up big time for this and were LOUD. Funny when they started chanting "Auburn", "Auburn".
  3. The point I was trying to make was that the stadium was on campus. A state of emergency has what affect on walking to the stadium? Not many students showed up.
  4. If SMU has a nice OCS and they are playing for a bowl spot why did only 3k fans show up? Bad weather? Wow, that would go over well here on the Bullspen. "It was too hot to walk over to the OCS to watch our team play for a chance to go to a bowl game".
  5. Good point. We cannot afford a decent on-campus stadium with our recent lack of success and financial losses. While it is technically not a factor pertaining to building our own expensive stadium, we also have to deal with diminished respect from non-USF fans. A stranger with Duke gear was unnecessarily telling me about our decline, for crying out loud. We should hold our ground financially first in a mid-major conference. As it is expensive and would require membership in a major conference, a very excited and engaged fanbase, and/or probably wealthier donors, an on-campus stadium should probably be among the least of our worries right now. What do you know about what we can afford? Start a fundraising campaign now. Announce the plans now. If it takes 10 years, so be it but start it now. Exactly!! We are not crying for a 300 million dollar OCS like Minnesota's. That is a pipe dream. More like a 100 to 175 million OCS would do the trick. RJS lost it's luster as soon as USF's started to decline on the field. I honestly dont think they will come back even if we start to win. That is just how I feel about it. I would rather pack about 20K to 30K on the home USF campus. Will also bring more money to the USF area with more businesses. So if USF goes undefeated next year going into the UCF matchup you don't think we'd draw 55K plus fans? Win enough and they'll be back.
  6. Because he could tell you one thing when recruiting you and then change the tune once you get there.
  7. Maybe when they get canned he should too then. For the folks that say he isn't responsible for the performance of the team, do you think taking bonus money for said performance is okay? 1. Shouldn't that answer the question of whether he "cares" or not? 2. Guess he isn't taking bonus money is he? Cares because of bonus money? Who cares if he cares or what drives his care? Your argument with me is you disagree USF Athletics is worse off now than when Doug took over. My point was with people that question whether he "cares" or not, not with you in particular. Your quote just had everything in it for me to highlight.
  8. Did any of you realize that Athletics writes a check to the University for the tuition of the athletes? Just learned that recently.
  9. Pretty sure that none of the fund raising money is going to Athletics. That is not true. Of the first $500+ million about $40 million was raised by athletics and is included in the totals.

  11. I showed up for the McNeese game and the team didn't. So my missing Rutgers makes us even. That is only if the team shows up for the Rutgers game. If they don't show up at RU they owe you one next year.
  12. in typical usf fashion someone turned the lights out instead of closing the covers over the lights
  13. See, I just can't help myself. I read stuff like this and it makes me nuts. So the offense is all Holtz's fault but the defense that has played well is all Bresnahan and Taggart? No credit to Holtz for the defense but all blame for the offense.
  14. Really need more people that are on here to realize we are all Bulls fans. I'm reading but staying away from posting (other than this obviously). Every statement or opinion turns into a fight with name calling and just nasty stuff that has turned me off.
  15. How much of your hard earned money would you be willing to bet straight up, no spread, that USF will win this game? I'll be willing to put up an equal amount on UCF against yours. Oh big deal. I know the post wasn't directed at me, who wouldn't ever bet on college games because so much can turn on emotions, but if you are so sure of yourself, you should give at least the 26 points. The fact is we can beat UCF. That's not saying we will. Go Bulls! Already going back on my self imposed ban but since it was directed at me...... In an earlier post I said that 26 was too big a number to place a bet. Then someone said that we can win this game. I simply asked how much of their money would they be willing to bet on that. If you think you can win there should be some $ amount that you are comfortable betting. Could be $1,000 or it could be $5 or a beer or something. I just like to point out that it is easy to say we can win. It is another to really believe, to where you are willing to bet money, that we can win. That was it. I'm not a huge gambler and have only bet twice this year. Miami and SMU games.
  16. that's sad Yes it is. Very sad. However, it's early. Fans who didn't keep up with USF didn't know about this game. I asked a few students if they where going to the game and the majority answer was, "What game?". USF did a horrible job marketing this game to students, and I think to outsiders. Again, that's just the students, and I thought the student section was good. But I assume the general public just didn't know about this game. It's early in the season. We have a great opportunity to get a run going and pull some nice wins leading into our showdown with Memphis on New Years Eve. Because posting a schedule and announcing on the radio isn't good enough. Maybe have the Met Life blimp float around Tampa for a few weeks announcing a November basketball game is better use of our money. Time for me to check out of the Bullspen for a while. It is freaking ridiculous. And now it should be time to blame Woolard for the loss tonight. Fire Stan Heath. We lost to the 5th ranked team in the country. Boy do we suck. Marketing sucks. The AD sucks.

  18. What have you seen THIS YEAR that gives any indication that this team will score more than 6 points offensively against UCF? So then you have to believe that our defense will hold them to less than 6 points. Just don't see it. Again, I hope we win this thing. Really, really hope we win this thing, but I haven't seen anything this year (Okay, you can argue the 2 TDs against Houston were against a smaller, zone playing defense, not a UCF defense) that convinces me we win this game or even keep it within 3 TDs.
  19. And at some point we just need to agree to disagree. We are at that point.
  20. 26 points is a lot of points. I can see us losing by more but don't believe in it enough to bet it. The 4 points v SMU was an easy decision.
  21. Still going to look like crap. I have pretty much had it with the RJS experient. It just does not work. Cant really build any tradition with it,. It is now time to get even more serious about bringing football onto campus. Time to come up with that $50 million donation then.
  22. Have an early holiday event on Monday so my daughter will be there. So look for her, my son-in-law and my cute grandson just 2 rows behind Mike Steuben on TV.
  23. Maybe he's worked on getting some home and homes v Big 10 teams. Maybe he is attending AAC meetings trying to come up with conference alignment. Maybe he is trying to get Tampa to be in on a rotating host for the basketball tournament and not have it permanently in Memphis. I really hate sharing discussions with him on here and maybe I should PM you instead. But I just don't see a lazy, non caring, sitting at his desk type guy and feel the need to defend him. Didn't a poll show when Taggart was hired that 70+% thought it was a good hire. Tony Dungy thought it was a good hire. He didn't, with Holtz or Taggart, just pick a name out of a hat. He spoke with tons of people in each case. Sometimes things just don't go the way you think they will. Ask Gator Nation about that. Should their AD be fired? I'm done now. I know you can't convince anyone on a message board to change how they look at things. Leavitt was God, Holtz was the anti-Christ and Doug is evil incarnate. I know, I know.
  24. Had to miss the men's BB game on Friday. But I got to the football game Saturday night, Women's Volleyball and Basketball this afternoon. So in my good fortune I saw 3 USF losses within a 21 hour period. Woo Hoo. Go Bulls !!! The football is just unwatchable. The volleyball team lost in straight sets to a good SMU squad. We were only in 1 of the 3 sets and lost that one. And the basketball team lost to a Clemson team that only had 7 gals dressed due to suspensions. They (USF) couldn't make a shot. But I put this one on the coach. It was very obvious that Clemson was running down the shot clock to preserve some energy and then ran a high pick and roll. We ran the ball up the court at every opportunity (pretty normal for us) and pressed them in the back court. With no 10 second call in the women's game I didn't understand why, when they crossed mid court, we didn't trap. They only had a couple of good ball handlers and their point guard was relatively short. More chance of forcing a turnover and speeding up the tempo of the game. Clemson seemed to shoot a fairly high percentage when open where we struggled again. My gal, #10, had a poor night shooting and Inga still continues to struggle at home. After she made a 3 she shook her head like, wow, finally. Then proceeded on the next possession to miss the rim on another 3. So the WBB team has played 2 quality opponents (maybe only 1 1/2 depending on how Clemson is viewed) and lost both at home. So don't get your hopes up about this team. They'll be OK but they better start shooting the ball if they want to make the post season.
