  1. I find it interesting - for some time, some people seem to be segregating into Leavitt-era and others into the post-Leavitt era. But the only group which seems to be unsatisfied with the other group is the post-Leavitt era. I'm a Leavitt fan. So, sue me. I had season tickets back then and witnessed first-hand the "Glory Days". I think many of us go back to the memories of those days 1) as proof that this program could be exciting, sell out games, beat big programs. It already happened, so I know it is possible; and 2) as an escape from the current frustrating times. It is really curious how this rankles some people, though. If someone could take a shot at explaining it, it would be enlightening. I see it as an unnecessary divide but I have been known to have missed something.
  2. Sure, and there were some big wins and I think a sellout with UCF or someone. It could be done excluding anything from prior to 2014. I just don't know why.
  3. I wouldn't envy the person who has to construct a video containing a large number of Hype-worthy plays, sellout crowds, big victories, and star players from the last five years. They are there, but I would rather have the whole history to pull from. People still connect to the story of the program's start and meteoric rise, CJL's personality, etc. If you go back and read about it, independent of what you remember, it really is a neat success story.
  4. Ok, guys. I didn't think it necessary to indicate the obvious sarcasm. I wasn't serious. I'm not crazy - at least the diagnosis wasn't unanimous.
  5. sorry, I should have indicated sarcasm. But please tell me you wouldn't accept Rod Smith. Please.
  6. At least I discovered that I drink a lot more when we are winning. I only had two yuenlings last night. As a matter of fact, since we started our losing streak, I have lost over fifty pounds. So, there is a silver lining.
  7. Ok, it may be time for this whole fanbase to have a good long talk with Grandaddy Purple. Let's just chill! We have a whole season to eat our young. People calling for player unity while thrashing each other - Brilliant!
  8. I understand. What I consider cynicism you consider reality. Again, you were right. Enjoy your victory.
  9. Yeah, fun to watch. I'd like to see that on our field again. I want the best QB for the team, but I guess I am partial to dual threat QB's. Maybe because that's what's been successful at USF.
  10. "What a creative offense Florida State has!" Just heard on the FSU game.
  11. I believe we are already scheduled that night...
  12. That certainly is a better, more productive idea than firing _____, then go out, find out where their family works and fire them too. And all their descendants. I tell ya, it's a tough crowd here!
  13. This sounds reasonable, but only if BB is faltering on his own. He had plenty of help in looking bad. I don't count dropped passes (catch-able), stupid penalties, line collapsing, etc. against him. I don't envy a quarterback having to learn a whole new system and then being judged as incompetent due to the first ever performance of that system, how ever inadequate.
  14. Let's see...didn't we have a quarterback who suffered a thigh bruise and the back up quarterback came in to help out. How did that work out? We can't give up on BB or anyone at this point. Let's see what develops and who improves.
  15. So, that was you. It was great having you visit and wish you luck. You brought us luck off the field anyway. Dorian turned and will miss us (most likely). Enjoy!
  16. The season didn't get flattened, we got embarrassed in one game with an brand new offensive scheme. All this emotional turmoil will abate and we will be back yelling at the TV every game. It's great that people care so much and this board is apparently very cathartic, but this is just the first game of a season and it's turned into a mob of townfolk out to get the monster. Apathy may be the only stable emotion right now. I commend you for it!
  17. Yup. I'm not out on a ledge. I've been looking forward to this season since the last play last season. I'm not going to give that up so easily. That said, I am pretty embarrassed at my team's performance.
  18. Hmmm...we'll need more than an Ishakawa diagram to drill that deep...
  19. Hell, I'd take him back in a heartbeat. But, with one caveat: He has to hire a good OC, and that would be Bell to me to begin with. Jim was many things but not necessarily a great offensive play caller. With that fulfilled, I believe that the team would rally around the founder of this program and there would be new life in it, both in the locker room and in the streets. Besides, how much publicity would USF get with the story of the Jim returning? But, I am not in the fire anyone camp yet. That is mostly an emotional reaction. CCS has not had enough stable time to show what he's got and what he hasn't. KB's system has had one test and it is being labeled a failure. It was execution and a loss of confidence. It was turnovers and penalties, something you see in early games. It was an apparent capitulation and that is really the one thing that concerns me most. Let's see how the year progresses. Getting more than one game's experience with a new offense should instill more confidence. There probably won't be any changes soon and I think that is fair.
  20. I don't imagine that many four star recruits have watched our last seven games and thought, "Man, I need to go to USF and be part of the special story that is developing there! Their future is so bright I need sunglasses."
  21. Article from last year's Oracle 11/25/2018 post game comments “You look at us, we’re very fortunate to win the seven games that we won,” Strong said Friday. “You look at the last five, when you can’t score, you have to be able to stop people and you can’t give up the big plays.” Marquez Valdes-Scantling, now a wide receiver who has had a fairly successful rookie season with the Green Bay Packers and led USF’s receivers last season, saw a tweet with a portion of that quote and responded with his own. “You serious?? Is this a real quote?” he said in the tweet. But that wasn’t the only part of Strong’s press conference that bothered Valdes-Scantling. “Just overall, we’re not a very good football team,” Strong said after the UCF loss. Strong’s simple sentence elicited an even simpler response from Valdes-Scantling, who responded with just two words. “Pure disrespect.” he said in his tweet. Valdes-Scantling wasn’t the only player who was watching the War on I-4. Former-USF running back Marlon Mack, who is having the best season of his young career with the Indianapolis Colts, took to social media to critique some coaching decisions on offense. “Please Run More Outside Zone !!!” Mack tweeted about one hour after kickoff. Mack didn’t specify an exact play he was referencing in his tweet, but it was clearly directed toward the fact that USF’s offense was consistently running plays up the middle with little to no success. Question: would any of CCS's former players play for him again? I think that is a great measure of a coach.
