  1. And we waste no time around here! Welcome!
  2. Well I ran some numbers. Couldn't find game by game attendance for our history, but got season by season data on record and attendance. I ran two correlations: one year total attendance vs. record, and one year's record vs. next year's total attendance. Really not what I wanted but only data I have. Although I wanted to see the effect of a win on a subsequent game's attendance, we can see if total record in a year correlates with that year's attendance and correlates with next year's total attendance. The results indicate that: 1) there seems to be no to very little correlation between attendance in any year and the team's record that year -0.16 (Speedbull, if that is what you meant, it looks like you are right), 2) same result between one year's record and the subsequent year's total attendance, 3) you can't do it this way, stupid. There are too many variables and too little data. I'm surprised that within a year there seems to be little correlation between our record and attendance. That one, although counter-intuitive, is a pretty straightforward calculation. The other correlation is basically useless without per game data. Data Source
  3. That wasn't directed at you, just a general comment. Probably shouldn't have quoted. Random synapse firing, I guess.
  4. Thanks. I'll go mine it but was hoping for a couple of historical charts to combine. Got my project for the morning!
  5. I used to. Until I realized that incompetence is equally distributed in society.
  6. I can see Shelly Winters swimming through the waters now!
  7. Hmm...I have been looking for data on this. I can't find a chart with the W/L by game and attendance by game. I'd like to run a correlation of attendance following a W. Anyone know where this data is?
  8. Yup. Some things in life appear to be a constant. It set us back. But, as fans, if we demand heart and grit from our players, then we might want to show some, too. I try to take the long view, but I usually step right in it because I was looking down the road.
  9. I have a rotten memory, but didn't you study History in school?
  10. We would have had a much better idea of this system had we played Wisconsin later in the year. First game, new system, new OC, new players -- that's a brutal Baptism By Fire and doesn't really allow us to see how we stack up against anyone, much less a power team.
  11. Keep in mind that some people are gifted with an additional orifice with which to express their thoughts.
  12. I was in Wichita, Kansas a couple of weeks ago and, in a grocery store I spied a huge kid walking with his mother. Looked like an OG. I asked him, "Do you play football?". "Yes, sir". "You know, you might consider spending four years in Florida. The University of South Florida is in Tampa and we sure could use big guys on our team." I looked to his mother and she was beaming. Who knows?
  13. Yeah, not sure why he keeps coming out and telling us that our team was unprepared yet again. I don't think I would be telling my boss that I (or my people) didn't do their job again. Odd career strategy. Let's see how this season plays out. I'm not ready to drop the blade on CCS yet, but a little regret and ownership of the problem would buy a longer reprieve from me.
  14. It was only one game, brother. Back when I was young and had testosterone , I was yelling at the TV because some idiot coach took out my Bledsoe and put some unknown named Brady into the game. I didn't have a large enough sample size of Brady's performance but judged the coach to be far less adept than I. Of course, the only people who would give KB a contract for the HC job right now are the "Extenders", and that's not a male enhancement product. Those are the people that may see a glimmer of adequacy from someone and desperately want to rope that person in for years. They have had their influence in a past contract or two. I see people fuzzily straggling in from the ledge. Let's get ready for another game, another tailgate, and what I truly believe - a victory at GT.
  15. Sort of like "...but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid”?
  16. So, it seems that bringing up our storied past during a "drought" might make some people feel worse, possibly because they missed it, angry that it still isn't, and they don't want to hear about it anymore because of that. Anyone else?
  17. So no one knows why these people were let go but we're going to judge it negatively anyway? Well, this IS a fan board.
  18. They are one of many in that category. We can all pick a program we would like to emulate. It doesn't matter. We are not making decisions here. And remember, that success is very recent and they were 0-17 or something before that. Time was, as a program we were measuring ourselves against more storied programs - Louisville, Miami, FSU, WVU. I guess I refuse to revel in the fact we could possibly be the biggest fish in the smallest pond.
  19. I truthfully don't care about them. They have never been our measuring stick. They are another team that we have to beat in conference. A team with two very good years in a row.
  20. I'm not aware of why anyone, player or coach, was let go. So I don't know if it's minor stuff or if I would do the same thing. Did they say why?
