  1. I think he said it after the pre season All Big 12 team was picked. If you look at http://www.big12sports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=210212705 you can see they are mostly from Texas and Oklahoma, but a couple from Florida. I think he is looking at extending the recruiting base outside of Texas and figures Florida is the place to go. Go Bulls!
  2. How could he have anything against Grothe? He was like Leavitt. Gave it all for the Bulls. Go Bulls!
  3. That's funny about Wisconsin. My wife and I both say that was the biggest crowd to make so little noise that we have ever seen. The WVU game was so electric if you stuck your tongue out you would get shocked. It is not an on campus stadium that makes a game. It is the opponent and how much it means to the two teams. We need to be in the SEC (if only we had started football another 50 yrs earlier) Go Bulls!
  4. Why don't we just make a deal with TSA to have the lot including RJS an adjunct part of the University of South Florida. Then we would instantly have an OCS stadium. Go Bulls!
  5. Some people think that Oklahoma is laying the groundwork for a move out of the conference, with possible rumors to the Big 10 (with Texas). Who knows? Go Bulls!
  6. People are very short term. That said, I really like the UAB coach. Watch coach T's name suddenly appear on those lists when we win the conference this year. Go Bulls!
  7. Although I give huge props for their coach He led them to their first bowl eligible game in 10 years, right when the program was cancelled He was offered multiple jobs afterwards.. but stuck to his guns, refused them, and stayed with UAB hoping the program would be revived. I agree about their head coach. I think we will see him moving up the ladder to bigger schools in the not too distant future. Go Bulls!
  8. USF is a better school academically and prestige wise. Research wise we are kicking butt and hopefully can get into the AAU within the next decade. Judy G gets a lot of flack, but she can get people to open their checkbooks. We have a bigger TV market than Orlando by around 350,000 TV homes according to Nielsen (http://www.tvb.org/media/file/Nielsen_2014-2015_DMA_Ranks.pdf), which is about the same as adding an entire additional Waco market, the home of Baylor. Of course I am biased, but I think we will over the long haul be better in most sports, including football, basketball, and baseball. We hit the skids in football and basketball at probably the worst time possible. As far as airports, Tampa's is great and studied as a model for airport designers around the world. We also have St Pete/Clearwater just across the bay, so we also have two or more airports. The Tampa Bay Area is easy to get to, and has enough hotels and a nice enough stadium to host Superbowls, We have the beaches, and quite frankly I would think that most any tourist would rather stay on the beaches and drive an hour and a half to go to Disney World when they want to see Mickey. Just about every time I have to go to Orlando, I ask myself who would want to live there. I can't really imagine anybody who can make a choice picking the Orlando area over the Tampa Bay Area as a place to be. All that doesn't really matter, though, as far as the Big 12 expanding. I would expect them to pick schools that will be the best for them in the long run. I don't like it, but I think that means taking both USF and UCF. Go Bulls!
  9. Critical evaluation of our alma mater's highly paid athletic leaders who aren't ALUMNI and care only for their hefty checks which highly paid athletic leaders would those be? Go Bulls!
  10. I think this new plan will fill in the seats between the 30s much more than we have seen in past years. I'm sure it was tough to do, but I think going to a per seat donation was actually the right move for USF to make. All the season ticket holders will still have the right to their same seats, it will just cost them more if they want to exercise that right to purchase them. I am also a season ticket holder since before we played a game, and I expected the grandfathering to end some time. I think now is a good time to do it. Hopefully it will give the games a little better atmosphere when the sidelines are more full. Of course, I am assuming that some of the accounts that have 8 tickets or more will reduce the number since they will have to pay a donation per seat. As far as the clubs being crowded, the Bucs have the same amount of sections for club access we will have. It will be more but still what it was designed for. I'll probably drop down to 2 seats now that I live over 1300 miles from Tampa, but until I die I plan to always be a Bulls season ticket holder. Go Bulls!
  11. The difference seems to be per seat donation vs one donation for what, up to 8 seats? It will probably net more money for USF and be cheaper for people who want only 2 or 4 tickets to get better seats. The donation grandfathering will probably be gone, too. Go Bulls!
  12. I think coach Antigua was a fantastic hire and will have us strong in basketball for years to come. Go Bulls!
  13. They say now the cost has risen to 1.2 billion. Go Bulls!
  14. If we build a stadium on campus, we could have seat licenses. Not the ridiculous ones like they are talking about in Atlanta, but something more along the lines of a season ticket price like the Bucs did when RayJay first opened. Of course you could donate more if you wanted, and it may be better to just have a voluntary seat donation drive instead. You can raise a ton of money from naming rights. Before I saw Tulane's naming revenues from their stadium web site, I never knew you could sell naming rights for not only the stadium, but the field, the club, concourse areas, etc, etc. I think Tulane was looking for 40 million from naming rights alone. With the size of the Tampa Bay area and the companies located here, we could probably get that much or more. If we had 10,000 seats donating an average of $1,000 per seat, that would be another 10 million. Another 10 million from general fundraising donations and we are up to 60 million dollars without anything having to be financed. That Atlanta situation is so ridiculous that I hope hardly anybody pays them. Go Bulls!
  15. I think the University of Alabama should make the announcement since they have a history of shutting down programs in that state. I'm not aware of a state school shutting down football in Florida. Go Bulls!
  16. I will always have fond memories of coach Leavitt and his energy and intensity. He gave birth to the program and dragged it kicking and screaming into a team that could knock off anybody. He will forever in my heart and mind be a Bull. I will root for his teams wherever he goes pros or college, but his time here has passed. We need to move forward, not look backwards at what was or should of or could of been. Go Bulls!
  17. We need to take care of our own house and get things right instead of talking up anything. This is time for action. Go Bulls!
  18. I still like Bill Clark, the UAB coach. That guy seems to know how to win. Somebody is going to get a great hire when they pick him up. Go Bulls!
  19. That's the way things work. Here's the thought process. Playoffs were dismissed for years because it would be too many games for the teams involved. Then they decided to just have one extra game and that would take care of the playoff talk for football. Everybody would be happy. The only problem is in the application of the plan it turns out that there are 2 teams excluded, one of which (TCU) some people think could have won the whole thing. It is so unfair, but with only 4 teams, you have to make choices. Let's make it more fair for everybody. Let's increase the playoffs to 8 teams. That way if you really have a claim to the National Championship you will make the grade and can prove it on the field. Yeah, let's do it. It's only 1 more game for the players, and we get a true national champion. Not to mention the extra revenue it will bring for the conferences and teams involved in the playoffs, and for the networks who will televise the games. Everybody wins. If the Big 12 expands, it does nothing for the other P5 conferences, and may or may not get more money for the networks. Expanding the playoffs will get everybody more money, and they can say that they are doing what is best for college football by crowning a true national champion. Go Bulls!
  20. I don't see expansion happening now. I see the playoffs going to 8 teams instead. Then there will be no immediate need to expand, and everybody (p5) will get at least one team in. It would make things much better for the P5 schools other than the Big 12, and for the Big 12. It would also mean more money for ESPN. An easy solution with more money for the major players sounds like the most likely outcome. Go Bulls!
