Undergrad: '86-'92
I transferred into USF 3 yrs after HS graduation. For the first 2-3 of years while at USF I was part of a group of guys that would sit and watch college games all day on Sat. There was a MI fan. 2-3 FL school fans and me the NE Cornhusker fan. Sundays & MNF were about the Bucs and Cowboys. During basketball I would go to weekend games every once in a while. I was a student during the two first NCAA appearances. I saw more MBB those seasons than all the rest combined but that isn't a big deal. I worked at UPS M-F 6-9:30 I could not make week day games.
Also I became a Chicago Bulls/MJ fan while they were attempting to beat Detroit three seasons in a row during the ECFs before the championship years. So when they won titles I was a NOT band wagon fan. Plus bio father lived in Chicago burbs. Actually got to see MJ live in '88 or '89.
Kinda started not liking the Gators during the second half of my time at USF after experiencing the UF self absorbed pompous snobbish fans that they can be. Plus they wouldn't play USF in MBB during my time at USF nor in the early and mid 90s. Went to all home FB games 1997-2006 until I moved the family to TX. So now I bleed Green and Gold.
Where my fandom came from...
So I have a rich and deep college football history. I was born in Omaha, NE. I was 6 when I saw the Cornhuskers win the NCG in '71. Danced with my Mom and G'ma in the living room. Wanted to play college FB from that day on. I was a Husker fan and still am. They moved to No. 2 team on my list in 1997. I was a USAF brat. Moved to St. Pete and MacDill in the early 70s. Lived in Guam '76-'78 then MidS and HS in St. Pete in the late 70s and early 80s. I became a Cowboy fan in 1976 while living in Guam. Loved watching Roger Staubach, Drew & Preston Pearson, Tony D, make 4th qtr comebacks and all the personalities on the D - Manster, Too Tall, Charlie Waters, Mel Renfro, Tomas Henderson, etc. That is the year they beat Denver's Orange Crush in the 1978 SB. We moved back to St. Pete in 1979. I adopted the home team Bucs but the Cowboys were my No. 1 b/c they were America's team. However in 1979 the Bucs did go to the NFC CG. That's probably why I became a Bucs fan. In high school I was a mild Gator fan b/c I did a few recruiting trips to UF for games. I saw John Robinson's No. 10 USC vs No. 11 UF my junior season in HS in G'ville with my FB coach. Wilber Marshall was incredible in that game. I played DE in HS so I became a huge fan of WM. He later played for the Super Bowl Bears defense. I actually attended a FSU at UF in the mid 80s after HS. I don't evern remember who won.
