  1. I'm not one of those, however, I'll stick with what I said about QF not being a perfect fit in this new system. In the GCO, I'd take QF over Tom Brady, but I suspect that we have three QBs that could function well in this offense (guessing here based on the little I've seen Kean & Oladakun play), so the drop-off might not be as great as last year if Kean entered the game for whatever reason. I just believe that our WR corps are talented enough to be putting up big numbers, but they are not (yet). But again, not saying Kean should be the guy. Q is 5-0, and that's what really matters. Too many unknowns with Kean. How well he protects the ball being the biggest question mark. Q does that well.
  2. UNLV managed to lose to Howard. Trap game for SDSU maybe? On the road, a week before Boise....
  3. I noticed that in the box score too, but somehow missed that while watching. Any idea when he got those carries?
  4. They've definitely had better competition, and have been at least as dominant, if not more so than we've been. They are a problem.
  5. I'm assuming this is the first time that us & UCF have been in the Top 25 at the same time?
  6. Exactly. This kind of thing is a concern regarding San Diego State though...
  7. Same here. ECU hasn't been stopping anybody all year. I would love to see how we match up against a Top 20 team. Even Houston, who was supposed to be one of our tougher games, looks pretty mediocre so far this year. Looking more and more like UCF will be the only difficult game this year, on paper anyway...
  8. Just read that this was our first 50-point game on the road
  9. Not sure they shut it down. There were a couple of obvious running situations on 3rd and short, where they knew it was coming, and ECU still got the first down running it. They did improve overall in the second half though.
  10. Which could help the SOS of SDSU. Not sure they lose to NIU, but the have Boise in two weeks. That is where they go down (hopefully).
  11. Starting to love what I'm seeing from the offense. Nice to see us being able to pound the ball straight ahead, and control the clock some, giving the defense a rest. They are exceeding expectations, at least in my opinion. Thought this would look something like Taggart's first year here after the first two games, but that OL is definitely coming together. If Flowers can be a little more consistent throwing it, I don't think I'll miss the GCO that much going forward. Ball control, keep the defense somewhat fresh. I actually enjoyed this more than last year's team, despite a slightly off day on defense. Like the balance. Looks like I was wrong about this team. Negatives: Defense never really adjusted to that QB draw, ECU just stopped doing it. QB looked a little hobbled. Not a great day for Sands.
  12. Several good moments in this game, both running and throwing the ball. Let's not forget though, ECU has given up 50+ three times now this season, but Flowers looked good today regardless. Made a great throw to MVS on a third & long, on a play in which there was pass interference, but the catch was still made...that was that play that came to mind.
  13. The package deal w/UCF...I like the idea, but I suspect some like it as an assurance that we aren't left behind by them, which would be absolutely brutal for the program. I've read some scenarios where the Big 12 could take BYU, and ONE of the Florida schools. No idea what criteria the Big 12 might take into consideration when choosing teams for expansion, but the OCS and IPF might show that UCF has committed more to their program. They managed to do that while in CUSA.....without the big TV contract $$ that the BCS conferences were bringing in. Why were we not able to get these things done in our heyday, around 2007-08, when we were in a BCS conference and drawing big crowds? FWIW, I still think we have a decent chance when expansion rolls around again. Been there before with the Big East.
  14. In terms of the Farm system in baseball, AAC=Triple A ball. MWC and the MAC would be Double A, and Sun Belt & CUSA Single A. Just waiting for our call to the majors.
  15. No doubt that moving into a bigger conference will help attendance, and we were once a good draw in the Big East, but I wonder how big a strike against us the fair-weather fan base is here. Tampa fans don't exactly stick with us through thick & thin, like say, BYU fans would with their team, and there is ample evidence of that now. Can't help but wonder how sustainable it would be to continue to field a team if we are left out of the next round of expansion, especially if UCF manages to get an invite. We can't draw a decent crowd despite being ranked, and the football program actually loses money, IIRC. If we can't draw a crowd now, or last year when we were fielding a very entertaining offense, then when exactly will that happen if there is no P5 invite?
  16. Great game in Auburn. I remember Delbert attempting what seemed like an 18 yard FG, and just about hitting one of the pylons in the endzone. Thankfully he made the one near the end of regulation though.
  17. So if you're a P5 commisioner, and you know this about Tampa and our attendance problems, would you invite USF over the available G5 teams, such as BYU, Colorado State, Boise State, etc?
  18. ECU lost 34-14 at home to James Madison. 26 point opening spread sounds about right to me
  19. Nobody is going to consider Temple a quality win, unless it's an FCS team that beats them. UCF is potentially a quality win, and possibly Houston, but based on our resume, we are about where we should be. Imagine a Sun Belt team running the table and demanding a playoff spot. That's what some on this board sound like.
  20. 600 yards is an awful lot, but you're right, that offense sucks. Almost as bad as Tulane's offense was last year.
  21. They did manage to hold an unranked Notre Dame team to a mere 600 yards and 49 points....
  22. They did what they were supposed to do to a weak, team....beat the tar out of them. Not sure anybody here has a warm spot for them, but maybe want them to be as well regarded as possible went they meet us, to help boost our SOS, and we need whatever help possible in that area to stay ahead of SDSU in the race for that NY6 spot.
  23. I saw that and the rematch both on YouTube. Look up Julian Jackson for an impressive highlight reel of knockouts
