  1. Saw that on closed circuit at the Sunrise Musical theater. Was thinking first round knockout also once I saw them in the ring. He was an awesome Light-Heavyweight though, and the first one from that division to win a Heavyweight title. Tyson was a bad match-up for him obviously.
  2. UCF has one win on the season against a horrible FIU team. What data could they have.possibly used to come to.this conclusion?
  3. Agreed. That wasn't exactly a top 10 we we just beat.
  4. Agree with you on Sands. Also looked pretty good at RB in garbage time.
  5. This is the offense that Gilbert has always run....the offense he knows. I realize that this offense is not exactly best suited for Q, but I feel a lot better about the offense than I did after the Stony Brook game. I thought it was going to be like Willie's first year here, where the O Line never really adjusted to the Power Run scheme, but this line is catching on to Gilbert's offense. We had two 100 yard rushers against a team whose goal it was to stop the run. Even with all the sloppiness, penalties, and accuracy issues/drops in the passing game, we are putting a lot of points up, albeit against crap competition. Would like to see bigger numbers from the likes of Antoine, Salomon, MVS, and McCants, but the accuracy issues have to be resolved.
  6. I'm pulling for Q to do well of course, was hoping he would remain in the Heisman conversation, but he is definitely underwhelming at times....tonight for example...throwing the ball. I really wanted to see Kean in the game at around the beginning of the 4th quarter when the game was well in hand, and it was obvious they were going nowhere against our defense. Just curious to see what he looks like with the first team in there...whether or not he's any better of a passer. Wondering what this offense could look like if that receiving corps ever realize their potential.
  7. The offense is just not a great fit for QF, but if the defense keeps playing the way it did tonight, and the run blocking continues to improve, that might be enough to run the table against the pathetic schedule we have. Somebody on this thread suggested exploring other options at QB. Anybody here certain that Kean couldn't have matched QF's numbers tonight? We seem to have quite a bit of talent at WR, but QF was 8 of 20 (23.4 QBR) for 96 yards against a team that was selling out to stop the run. Not saying I think a change should be made, but it's not THAT far-fetched.
  8. I love what I'm seeing from this defense as well. Swarming, aggressive, producing turnovers. However, we haven't been tested against a decent offense yet, and that probably won't happen until Houston. Temple was smoked by Notre Dame, and struggled with Villanova and UMass.
  9. Surprised to hear this. Dude seemed pretty good, despite looking like a cross between John Riggins and Richard Simmons.
  10. I think he's ditched those awhile back. His style of interviewing can be quite annoying at times, but he has an interesting show
  11. I remember hearing that Temple wasn't meeting the required minimum attendance to remain in the league.
  12. Two of the teams that were ranked just ahead of Miami, Auburn & Louisville, lost to Clemson, which dropped them a few spots. Nobody will be penalized too much for losing to Clemson though, so understandable they fell behind Miami, but are still ahead of us. I can understand the frustration though, that Miami has won one game on the season....two weeks ago against Bethune Cookman, and rose three spots in this week's poll. Stony Brook is probably a better quality win than Bethune Cookman, and SJSU & Illinois certainly are, yet we've dropped two spots since the beginning of the season. I wasn't all that interested in the rankings until seeing where San Diego State landed this week. Will be really interesting to see how that shakes out.
  13. Hopefully they're still receiving votes when we play them, which is late in the season.
  14. I can't tell you why Miami or Florida were ranked where they were in the preseason poll. Recruiting is an inexact science, and is often not fair, but should be more accurate (theoretically) at the end of the season when everything has played itself out.
  15. Seen a few segments of this College on Tucker Carlson. Would have been too bizarre to believe a few years ago, but is becoming all too common these days..
  16. Totally agree with this. I doubt a poll is necessary. Not real big on catering to the most sensitive people in society.
  17. Name the teams we've "punched in the mouth" so far. You question what kind of fans we are because we point out that we've been underwhelming at times against a very weak schedule? Just my opinion, but that's not pessimism. Just dealing with reality. I'm not saying we shouldn't be ranked, but that argument could be made, and there are several pollsters who don't have us in their top 25. Again, we're #21, and that's fine with me.
  18. So, you agree that what last year's team did played some role in our preseason ranking? I do understand that the other factors you mentioned had something to do with it as well. It's difficult to tell where we fit in exactly. I can't help but wonder what kind of record we'd end up having this season if we had, say, the Gator's schedule. 9-3? 8-4? Really hard to gauge the quality of this team when the the schedule is this bad. We're an upper echelon AAC team, whatever that means.
  19. I totally get what you're saying, and agree with it. No Mack or Adams, new staff, new system....nobody knew exactly what to expect, yet the pollsters somehow decided we were #19 in the country before a game was played . Last year should have nothing to do with our ranking this year, but it had to be a factor in us being #19 in the preseason. I agree....based on our performance so far this season, against below average competition, I'll take #21 with ZERO complaints.
  20. What we did last year probably was a factor in the preseason ranking this year I guess, although I'm not crazy about preseason rankings. I think 20-25 is fair. Look forward to seeing us against decent competition to gauge how good this team is, but when does that happen?
  21. You got a few thumbs down for daring to suggest that in another thread.
  22. There you have it. Florida did in fact jump us. Mississippi State as well. Hard to tell what would be a fair ranking for us. We have no real tests on our schedule except for 3 of the last 4 games.
