  1. I completely agree with everything you've said about Taggart, but you're trying to talk sense into people who aren't open to that. The guy completely turned the program around, and somehow he's the guy that people love to hate here. I really don't get it.
  2. I doubt Taggart would keep KB as OC. Taggs would run the GCO, which King is familiar with, so he'd likely be the OC.
  3. No doubt Briles would be a good fit here, but not sure we're desperate enough to take in that much baggage. This guy would have easily been a HC somewhere, but the fact that nobody has given as talented a guy as Briles a chance yet speaks volumes. Baggage aside though, he seems to be as good a potential hire as anybody, and would love to get his foot in the door somewhere. Last I heard, nothing was ever proven against him in that Baylor scandal. I wonder if he's on Kelly's radar at all?
  4. Would be interesting to see what type of offense King would implement should be become the next HC, because he has been around the GCO before. I like Taggart at HC with King OC. Would be great for recruiting. Wouldn't mind getting Sean Gleeson. He got a look at OC before Bell was hired. Runs an offense I think would work here.
  5. I'm not doubting that he would do well here. Not sure that people will want him as the face of the program though. Someone on here pointed out though that he might stick around for a little while, being that it's possible that some P5 programs wouldn't touch him just yet... https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/columnists/dialcreech/article/UH-sends-wrong-message-in-hiring-Kendal-Briles-12478485.php
  6. He ran a great offense at FAU. You're right though, this would be a controversial pick
  7. Probably just like every HC, or potential HC
  8. Maybe he's been humbled a bit? . He's had a string of gaffes along his climb up the coaching ladder, but he did well here before he left here. The fanbase just wants to win. Whatever personality flaws he may have would be forgiven if he could recreate what he once did here. . I think they have to at least give him a look.
  9. Dude, there was WAY more to this than Nick Roberts.....an offense that often couldn't produce 100 yards passing in a game for example.
  10. He knows which offense to go with here. He has a QB who can likely run the GCO. Don't know why you'd hang up the horns with Taggart....who had double digit wins in his last season here.....if you didn't with Strong this season. I think this is possible, and I think it could work. People here should have an open mind on this. We may not have a ton of options...
  11. Well, we'll see who they hired and what that Coach/Staff gets paid....
  12. Agreed, which is why I don't understand the "Taggart didn't want to be here" thing. I think he wanted to be in a better situation, just as any coach would. This is based on zero evidence....just guessing here....but I think when Willie was hired here, he might have thought that the USF job would be a big step up from WKU, then found out he was wrong once he was in place. I think he might have been caught off guard by the university's seemingly casual approach to athletics. I'm guessing the same for Skip. He might have been expecting more from a program in an AQ conference (at the time),. I heard it mentioned that his hands were tied when it came to recruiting. He would have been better off staying at ECU. Might have gotten a P5 shot, and failed for a lot more money.
  13. I think you'll find that ANY coach we get going forward, that has any success, will not want to be here, and will bolt as soon as a P5 opportunity arises. That goes for any team in the conference. This is a stepping stone. I'm confident that there is absolutely nobody out there who dreams of being USF HC for their entire career. Taggart's situation has changed. Somebody pointed out that he may be looking to rebuild his reputation. Coming back here where he once had success would make sense, and yes, he will bolt again if he comes back and wins, but so would any other coach. It is what it is.
  14. Exactly. Oregon was 4-8 the year before Willie arrived. He went 7-5 in his only season there.
  15. Ok. Attendance was part of the reason Temple was kicked out of the Big East. This is the only example I know of this happening. From the wiki article: "Conference officials said that since at least 1996, Temple had been out of compliance with Big East membership standards including competitiveness, attendance, and facilities.[11][12]" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temple_Owls_football
  16. Isn't there a 15K minimum to remain in the FBS? I remember reading about FIU struggling to maintain 15K in attendance, and that they were in danger of being demoted to the FCS....
  17. Charlie has nothing to do with the offense. He did hire Bell, but from my understanding, Bell has complete control over that side of the ball.
  18. Has anything like that ever happened in the history of college football? This is creative thinking, and I'm not against it, specially if we'll be stuck with this staff anyway. Zero chance it happens though.
  19. The committee kept our rivals out of the playoffs in 2017. They actually were #1 in one of the computer rankings at season's end... https://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/os-sp-ucf-national-champions-colley-matrix-0109-story.html
