  1. Don't know if this has been mentioned on another thread, but here's the latest Mike Ford fight...
  2. I would understand them leaving as well. Seems most coaches that have any success here....minus Navy's coach....are gone in 3-4 years. I have no idea what our odds are of landing in the P5 when the Big12 renegotiates, or if Scott would be willing to stick around to see what happens.
  3. If he winds up being successful here, it will be interesting to see if him & Kelly are still around when the Big 12 TV deal is up in 2025.
  4. This is true. Very rare that Heavyweights suffer brain injuries in fights. I believe they linked fighters having to dehydrate to make weight (which of course Heavyweights don't have to worry about) to head injuries. Magomed Abdusalamov & Greg Page are the only two instances I can think of where a Heavyweight suffered a serious head injury in a fight.
  5. I wish him well, but your assessment of him as a boxer is pretty spot on in my opinion. In Ford's fight prior to the 3-31 guy, he was TKO'd by a 17-42 fighter. There's no way he's going anywhere with this late of a start in the sport. Hopefully he has fun with it, makes enough money to make it worthwhile, and he doesn't get hurt. https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/794616
  6. My apologies if someone already posted this, but Mike Ford is fighting on January 17th. His opponent is 5-0 5KOs. https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/794616
  7. Rusty Smith. Was actually drafted in the sixth round by the Tennessee Titans
  8. I think all UCF fans supported the idea of Strong staying here. Maybe he was trying to get everybody on board with the idea...
  9. I thought he called him the #2 QB in the ACC?...
  10. That's eye-opening that La Tech had more drafted than us over that time period. Skip recruited poorly while here though. He left Taggart with very little to work with. Not sure why he is having more success at La Tech than here, but he sucked here IMO.
  11. Based on what I saw of him here, it's hard to believe Skip has had the success he's had at ECU and La Tech. I thought he was bad all around (while here anyway).....recruiting, clock management, being overly conservative....not to mention the whole Vero Beach thing that seemed like a waste of $$$. I believe he was also responsible for delivering us Chris Cosh. He took over a program that was typically in the Top 25 at some point every season, and in three years managed to take us to a 3-9 record, and had us losing to the likes of Temple (an embarrassment at the time), and Ball State, with no possibility of him turning that around it seemed. Thankfully we canned Skip when we did and got Willie in place. May have never seen Flowers, Mack, DJ, Adams etc had Harlan decided to keep Skip around another year.
  12. This is exactly right. I remember after the 5-7 season, him saying that we were 5 plays away from being 10-2. If our defense was holding, and we were tied or had the slightest lead, he'd go very vanilla on offense. He'd only open things up when he absolutely had to, hence all the close games. Also did that thing (on more than one occasion) where he'd be inside the opponent's 5 yard line, sit on timeouts, and run 20+ seconds off the clock and settle for a FG before halftime. Incredibly frustrating. Had the entire stadium booing in a home game vs. Cincy for doing that. Recruiting restrictions were far from being the only issues in his tenure here. Wouldn't want him back, but happy for him for the success he's had lately. Seems a nice enough guy.
  13. With the possible exception of Jim Leavitt, this is absolutely correct.
  14. I'm looking forward to this one as well. Already decided to go to this one, and will have a few coming along. FAU will be interesting next year. Should be fun.
  15. Just curious if anyone knows how Navy's recruiting works exactly. Usually teams average around 20-25 recruits for each recruiting cycle. Navy usually has around 80 (76 this year). How many players are on their roster if they're pulling in THAT many every year? https://n.rivals.com/team_rankings/2020/aac/football
  16. Better than some here were expecting. Of course, we won't know how good this recruiting class is until they actually start playing. One of our best ever recruits was George Selvie, who I believe was a 2 star.
  17. This might not tell the full story, but.... https://n.rivals.com/team_rankings/2020/aac/football
  18. Scott had this to help pull recruits at Clemson.... ....hopefully he can recruit at least as well as Taggart did here. Selling USF to these recruits will be different. He's yet to do that at this level.
  19. Probably. Will be interesting to see if he gets OC there or not. FAU will be recruiting at least at our level in all likelihood
  20. I remember seeing that Café Risque billboard when driving past Gainesville in the early 2000's. Seems like between that, and the Ron Jon's in Cocoa Beach, I must have passed about 40 Billboards advertising the two.
  21. I was thinking the same. We haven't played a game yet with CJS, and some seem convinced we are headed to greatness with him. It's like this with new hires usually, but at least wait to see what it looks like on the field...
  22. Even worse, FIU actually has an OCS. They can't have that much money flowing in from athletics (13k average home football attendance. That stadium must be an absolute dump.
