  1. I could see BJM, and possibly King going to FAU if they are not retained here. Not sure what will become of Bell though. He wouldn't fit the offense Willie likes to run.
  2. I think people feel this way pretty much every time a new coach is hired.....
  3. That was Lockhart Stadium that you are talking about. Much more of a scare than expected against Howard Schnellenberger's FAU team which we entered in the Top 10 I believe. Willie actually managed to lose to FAU back in 2013, 28-10.
  4. I'm guessing CaliBull returns right before the Spring Game
  5. Charlie was an expensive failure for sure, but that can't be blamed on the "rental coach" thing IMO....just a bad hire/contract by the previous AD. Going forward, what coaches do you think would win big here, and not bolt for P5 jobs at the drop of a hat....outside of possibly Jim Leavitt, which likely will never happen? AAC and Rental Coach go hand in hand. No successful coach will be sticking around with any AAC team. It's been that way, and will remain that way. Good coaches....and Chad Morris, who bolted SMU with a 14-22 record for the Arkansas gig, go to the big leagues and leave us behind. Reality sucks sometimes. Jeff Scott will either move on due to success, or get canned for sucking in the next 3-4 years. It is what it is. Too lazy to look it up, but what's the average tenure for an AAC coach since the league came into existence?
  6. Nothing against Jim, I would have been fine with him being hired. My comment was more directed towards those who use the bowl thing to point out the Taggart was no good.
  7. But he won a Bowl. That right there makes him one of the greats.
  8. Outside of this message board, I don't see anything about Leavitt's possible return here. I've seen him rumored to be hooking up with Mike Leach at WSU, going to Colorado State, or FAU. Are we sure all this Leavitt coming home talk is legit?
  9. Some of those players.....George Selvie for example....seemed completed off the radar coming out of High School. He definitely seemed capable of getting the most out of his players
  10. I'm not opposed to Jim coming back, but I have my doubts. The stars seem to be aligning for it to happen though: Judy gone, Charlie getting canned shortly after, Jim being free, our program in desperate need of a boost of some sort. I still have my doubts, but it's not as far-fetched as it once seemed to be...
  11. I'm guessing you are correct. Doesn't seem like anybody has been beating his door down to be their Head Coach. Kind of reminds me of Mark Mangino's situation. Good coaches who nobody wanted to touch after the incidents that took place for each. I have a feeling CJL will land somewhere soon though, maybe FAU....
  12. Wonder if Leavitt or Taggart would be interested in FAU if they don't get hired here. Looks like Lane is going to Ole Miss
  13. Wow. I was joking with the "amazing he got Matt Floyd" thing. Didn't realize anybody else was after him.
  14. Pretty amazing that Skip arrived 3 weeks before National Signing Day, and still somehow managed to get us Matt Floyd.
  15. IIRC, we didn't get a bowl invite that year, which is just crazy with a 9-2 record.
  16. Doesn't Clemson run a pro-Style offense of sorts that requires the OL to hold their blocks for more than 2 nanoseconds? If so, it might take some time to get the right guys in place, ala Kerwin Bell. Either Clemson OC may find it a little more difficult to succeed here without the 5 star linemen that they're used to. I don't think Jim will get a chance, but his hire would be an instant shot in the arm that this program needs badly right now. Not sure what a second Leavitt tenure would look like here. Hard to imagine him being the same raging lunatic (in a good way) that we saw on the sidelines against Rutgers in 2007, but he would certainly light more of a fire under player's behinds than Charlie did. I think Leavitt could be a better hire than either Clemson OC, and might be the extremely rare coach who might stick around here.
  17. ..….like Tom Allen for example. Wish he stuck around for the 2016 season. He might have made the difference, and brought us the Conference Championship that season. Raymond Woodie wasn't ready for that position.
  18. It would certainly be interesting having CJL back, but we're a decade removed from the 8-5 records he used to bring us. I think Leavitt would absolutely take the job if offered, but my guess is that Kelly isn't even thinking of him. Likely one of the Clemson guys, or maybe Taggart can sell Kelly on giving him a second chance. The Leavitt talk is fun message board material I guess, but I don't think USF will ever take him back.
  19. Not sure if this has already been posted, but.... https://www.tampabay.com/sports/bulls/2019/12/04/usf-football-coaching-search-time-for-some-bulls-bracketology/
  20. 51-3 at halftime. Just a great offense that year. Willie can recruit the area as well as anyone, and will put them in position to succeed (on offense at least).
  21. There are no candidates that have been mentioned that I'd hate, but I would be a little nervous about Kerwin Bell getting the job after what I saw this past year.
