  1. Puc will tell you this is a mediocre coach. 44-40 record.
  2. If I remember correctly, we got out to a big lead vs. South Carolina in that bowl game, and TJ seemed to sit on the lead....got conservative....and South Carolina came back to tie it. That was a nice win though, and I would have no problem with TJ coming here.
  3. I can't get too involved in debating this, because I really don't know what our options are...or what we can afford. Texas, from what I understand, helped to pay Charlie for us the first couple of years. Thought maybe it would work the same with Taggs. I'm guessing we'll have very little money to throw around if we decide to buy Charlie out. Shaun King maybe? That shouldn't come with a huge price tag...
  4. I can't really argue with any of that. One week I think we're turning the corner on offense, then the following week it seems we're light-years away. As far as the Temple game, I think Jennings was absolutely the guy we could least afford to lose. He is probably the best of a very average OL, and we are painfully thin at that position. Nine sacks speaks for itself. Just throwing this out there....but, if we were to bring Taggart back, would FSU be paying his salary for us, kind of like Texas did with Charlie for the first couple years? Being that we are tight on money, and Charlie will be expensive to buy out, should we go that route, maybe bringing Willie back makes sense. I doubt we have many options...
  5. As recently as the ECU game, I mentioned that I'm OK with Charlie & Co. coming back next season. I thought enough improvement was made on offense that it might end up working here if we could ever get the passing game going. Seems like there will always be a learning curve though with incoming Offensive Lineman and this offense, and that it could take until next year or even beyond for it to really reach it's potential here. I'll still be interested next year if Charlie/Bell are retained, but with people bolting an already small fanbase, there will obviously be pressure on Kelly to do something.
  6. I'm going to go out on a limb and say there's a little sarcasm going on here
  7. The announcers made McCloud sound like Michael Vick at times. Wonder if they actually did their homework. It's so obvious that our passing game is a non-threat, that I was almost getting annoyed with Temple for not having 8 in the box at all times. Take the run away, and we are going to lose every time. Having said that, there are issues with this offense beyond McCloud, and there are no guarantees that Rygol will fix anything. Would love to see them at least give him a shot though.
  8. He's a freshman, is learning a complicated offense, and was getting beat to crap tonight with a leaky OL in front of him. It's understandable that he's not lighting up the scoreboard. Would still like to see Evans or Rygol get a chance, but if they haven't sat McCloud by now, you have to wonder if they ever will this season. Looks like Bell is convinced he's the QB of the future here, and they will roll with him no matter what.
  9. Bull Daly and CaliBull are the two biggest optimists here, and both bolted. 'Course, their inflated expectations were probably the problem. Most of us know better.
  10. So...you're admitting that Willie was right? That they had no plan? Maybe they could have planned on, for example, an IPF back then, when I'm assuming $$$ weren't as big an issue? What plan did we actually have at that time, or did we completely squander any chance to take advantage of the position we were in?
  11. It crossed my mind that if Willie was here with the GCO, Evans would be the QB, and Cronkrite/Ford would have done very well in that offense. Weaver on the occasional Jet Sweep (ala Rodney Adams)...wish we had an offense to compliment the defense.
  12. When Bull Daly loses faith in the team, you know things are bad.
  13. This is assuming we'll have an OL that can hold their blocks for several seconds, which is required in Bell's offense. Not sure what is going on with the WRs, but it often seems that McCloud isn't finding anyone open when he does have time to throw. I want to believe in Bell and his offense...and they have improved some over the course of the season....but this isn't going to work if we can't throw the ball. Hopefully the guys you mentioned can function in this offense, and that they are given a chance by Bell.
  14. Not saying I believe that he will, but Bell has to see something in him, or believes there's potential there. They won't sit him when he's struggling....and even have him out there while injured. Frustrating to watch.
  15. Good point. Not a fan of the big, guaranteed contracts for this reason. On that last drive...even though the game was already over, we looked like we just wanted to get the game over with and get out of there. I don't think we want that attitude taking hold. Admirable job by the defense, but them going all in with McCloud has me thinking that the staff believes they will be back for 2020.
  16. I have no evidence, but it looks like Charlie has already been assured another season here. That's the only explanation I can think of for their refusal to sit McCloud, no matter how stagnant the passing game is. I think they might have written this off as a lost season 2 or 3 weeks ago, and are gambling on McCloud to develop and become a star next year. There is zero urgency to win right now. You'd think they would bring in Evans or Rygol to provide a spark, but they are playing for next year it seems. Charlie and staff are willing to thrust the fan base now in hopes that it will pay off in the future. He's not coaching like a guy who's worried about losing his job. Not blaming this loss on McCloud....the OL sucked without Jennings, but they probably should have tried to see if one of the other QBs could operate under the circumstances, because Jordan was clearly struggling...
  17. The announcers mentioned that Charlie told McCloud to just calm down. It looks like there's more wrong than just that. This could be a totally different offense if we could actually execute passing plays. Evans and Rygol must really be bad.
  18. We came into this game #110 in the FBS in passing YPG. Seems we've been reduced to just attempting screen passes now. There are way too many plays where the receivers aren't open, or McCloud can't find the open guy. He's been way off target again tonight when guys have been open. The staff needs to show some urgency here and try to win now, rather than letting McCloud go through the growing pains. Would be quite frustrating if they allow this to continue throughout the game. Get Evans....if he's available...or Rygol out there. This obviously isn't working.
  19. How? And what difference does our SOS make at this point?
  20. He had 66 yards vs. SMU. He didn't get any help from the OL on that occasion, but the passing game has yet to come around. Not necessarily blaming JM here, but with the tough part of the schedule coming up, it would help if we can make teams respect the pass.
  21. McCloud's passing numbers here. In three of his six starts, he has failed to reach 75 yards. If Temple doesn't stack the box against us, they might want to consider a new DC.
  22. Wonder if he'll return to the slot, or maybe into the RB rotation? Hopefully the latter. Anyone on this team who counts on catching passes to consistently make a big impact will be disappointed.
  23. CJL did good things. So did Taggart. Glad they both came through here.
  24. Taggart didn't get a fair shake at FSU. A year and a half is really quick, but if it's true that they were regularly playing to a half-empty stadium, there has to be pressure on the AD to move. Really spoiled fan base I guess. Wouldn't mind seeing them go 0-12 next year.
