  1. ****, that's actually tough to answer. Today it looked like the plays were there to be made at times on offense, but JM couldn't execute. That's still ultimately on Charlie though for keeping an injured QB in there. May have been a different game with Rygol. ECU game would be a great time to give him a chance.
  2. Yes, I don't blame everything on Charlie, but the decision not to sit a less than 100% McCloud here is on him. He was clearly having problems. Not sure what they were waiting for.
  3. Strong's (or is it Bell's?) refusal to sit McCloud is a problem. He clearly has confidence issues, is playing hurt, and is hopelessly inaccurate, especially on deep throw to open receivers. Limits our offense greatly. This could have been a very different looking game had we been able to connect on some of the deep throws. Seemed like McCloud could have broken his throwing arm, and they would have had him out there throwing short, left-handed passes. Quite frustrating to watch. Either Strong/Bell is extremely stubborn, or Rygol/Evans is really, really bad. At least give us a chance to connect on the occasional deep ball, and maybe open up the offense.
  4. Looked like a good crowd at that game. Loved the design on that first Navy run.
  5. Would Rygol or Evans step in if McCloud can't make it through the Navy game?
  6. He asked a question in the team meeting without raising his hand first?
  7. I think there are a few who have at least 1 foot on the hype train. The week will be difficult though. Navy has been putting up a lot of points this year. A blowout loss, we're right back to the post-SMU mood on this board. Win, the bandwagon starts getting crowded. CaliBull might even pop in with an "I told you so" for everybody. I think we're still too inconsistent to put together "an incredible run" as suggested in the OP, but we're getting better, and we may win a couple we weren't supposed to, hopefully starting with Navy.
  8. There will be growing pains, so no surprise there. With the improving line, maybe Blake gets back in if JM continues to struggle. We are 1-1 in conference, so not a wasted season yet. Hopefully, there's still an open competition at QB.
  9. The threat of Mack opened things up for Flowers, and vice versa. Adams on the Jet sweep added another dimension. That offense was custom made for the talent we had, particularly the three I mentioned. The GCO was great while it lasted, but the odds of assembling Flowers/Mack/Adams type talent again is highly unlikely. As far as Bell's offense, we'll see what kind of progress is made as the season goes. Long way to go before it gets to the level you think it can get to.
  10. A long term, huge $$$ contract for a guy who never proved a thing at that level.. Still time for him to turn things around I guess, but it looks like a whole lot of wasted $$$ at the moment. Sucks for FSU. Couldn't be sweeter be Willie though. He could go 0-12 every year for the remainder of his contract and still make an obscene amount of money. Good for him. https://www.tallahassee.com/story/sports/college/fsu/football/2017/12/06/details-released-willie-taggarts-contract-florida-state/927478001/
  11. I was curious of individual opinions, but threw in what I think it will take for him to actually keep his job. I think your answer of "9" means you don't want him back, being that it's extremely unlikely we're winning out. You're certainly not alone there.
  12. So, he has to win out for you. I think if he manages around 7, he's pretty safe for 2020. Mediocre result, but probably enough to buy him another year.
  13. Curious to hear some of your answers on what it would take for you to want Charlie back in 2020? How many wins would it take?
  14. I think I know what the replies to this will look like....
  15. Navy, ECU, Temple would be the most likely scenario. Lose to Navy, then I'm not sure where that third win comes from. Depends on where our offense is 4-5 weeks from now....
  16. I think we've been even worse at run blocking at times this year. Seeing the running game work like that against ANYBODY was nice. Also, BYU has had a tough schedule this season, with three Top 25 teams already. That tends to make the stat line look bad sometimes. Not saying we have a great offense by any means, but We're not completely incompetent by any means either, as appeared to be the case early on. We'll have a more clear answer on how far the offense has come in the weeks ahead...
  17. We've never lost to Temple at home. If we manage two get wins @ Navy and ECU, the confidence will certainly be there heading into the Temple game. Right now though, I'm just thinking about Navy. One at a time....
  18. Maybe a poor man's version of the Syracuse win back in '15 that turned things around. The offense is heading in the right direction. The schedule is mostly difficult from here on out, but it could be fun.
  19. If I remember correctly, Flowers used to float the ball quite a bit in his Freshman year. He definitely improved over time. I'd let things play out with McCloud. He only has 4 starts under his belt. As the OL continues to improve, so could he. Still a lot of football to be played.
  20. BYU is no world beater, and they were missing a couple of key players, but they are a step up from UConn/SC State. If McCloud starts connecting more consistently on open WRs, this offense might not be so bad. Navy, and other games coming up on the schedule look a lot more interesting now. We were horrid early on, but showing signs of life now. Happy for the team. Happy for Charlie. This one has to feel good after what the team has been through in most of the last 10 or 11 games. Two game winning streak now, let's keep it rolling... My bad. Fixed it.
  21. No way we win this game earlier this season. We've definitely made progress since GT. We have something resembling competence on the OL now, and it's really nice to see an actual running game. Bowl eligibility looks possible now. As fans, we should learn to relax and let things play out, as the comments early on were: "We're the worst coached team in football", "Cronkrite not impressive". Now we're all cheering because of the win, and Cronkrite goes for 150+. Also had people trashing McCloud, who I think will be fine. Remember, Flowers wasn't all that great early on. That was a fun game, and we're heading in the right direction.
