  1. What can’t you figure out? The friggin athletic director for Ohio State is on the committee. This isn’t rocket science.
  2. Because with a little slight of hand, now Iowa is a top 20 “quality” loss.
  3. Now that they got rid of the pesky computers and replaced them with P5 ADs and ex-coaches then can ensure no G5 team ever sniffs the top 10.
  4. Won’t prove any media wrong if we won the conference. The committee has already decided our conference is bad when an undefeated team is #18 and a 1 loss team is unranked. They could care less who wins our conference as they never will sniff the top 10 let alone the top 4.
  5. We had a good distribution of defensive rankings for our opponents last year. 3 in the top 40. 5 in the upper half of fbs. Temple was #3 in total defense. This year they are still tops for our opponents in defense at 65th. Also didn’t have any bottom 4 opponents last year and this year we played them all. Interesting for comparison but not apples to apples.
  6. Obviously have to mention the schedules aren't comparable, but interesting comparison. The offense has certainly dropped off in relation to the competition. We have been playing some of the worst defenses in FBS. After we play Tulsa we will have played the 4 worst defenses statistically in the FBS. Have only played 1 team in the top half of FBS defensively (Temple at 65).
  7. Best conference record. If tied head to head. If didn’t play head to head then whichever team is higher in the CFP ranking.
  8. Overall record doesn’t matter, only conference record. First tiebreaker is head to head. Division record is second tiebreaker after head to head. In the scenario where SMU Houston and Memphis finished with 2 losses they would all be 1-1 in head to head records so go to the second tiebreaker where Houston is eliminated since both losses were within the division. Then SMU would have the head to head tiebreaker over Memphis.
  9. Any reason to worry about Toledo if we both finish with 1 loss? Loss @Miami looks a lot better than home to Houston.
  10. Agree. I prefer runs for gains to runs for no gain. Someone tell CCS.
  11. If SMU beats Navy and Memphis they will likely come out of the West. SMU, Memphis, and Houston would have 2 losses but Houston would have 2 division losses and SMU would win the head to head with Memphis.
  12. SMU QB had several long runs and is not a very mobile QB. Flowers should eat the UCF defense alive again.
  13. SMU receiver choked it away on that 4th down drop. SMU got pressure on Milton and he didn't look good at all second half. Getting pressure will be key black friday.
  14. I don't know if this game is a harbinger of things to come, but it was encouraging. UConn is 128/129 in total defense. ECU is 129 and Tulsa is 127.
  15. There were like 4 defenders in good position to make a play on the ball. They just didn’t. Still don’t know how the pass snuck through all the jumping defenders.
  16. Believe they would stay ranked over us if both teams enter with 1 loss. They have a head start in rankings and at the end of the day they would have played a tougher schedule. Both teams would have played UCF and Houston. They played SMU, Navy, and UCLA as well while we played bottom feeders. UCLA and Navy were ranked when they beat them.
  17. Tulsa was an anomaly. Houston is a talented team who can play with anybody. Was the same way last year. They lost some head scratchers but beat very good teams. They had Memphis dead to rights in the first half before a miracle comeback. I would say they are top 50 but capable of rising up to beat legit top 25 teams.
  18. Defense is part of the equation. That was a bad showing for their defense. They do seem to have an exciting offense but looking at the highlights they had a couple of extremely lucky bounces on passing touchdowns and a kick return for a touchdown. More reasonable was UCF was looking ahead to SMU. They scored only 14 and 10 against Cincinnati and Miami (Ohio).
  19. 4th and 24. I knew it was over. Even going to OT I didn't like our odds with that momentum swing.
  20. 1 loss (not to UCF) was our margin for error this season to achieve the goal of a conference championship and NY6 bowl. Now we have no margin for error. There is reason for concern about how we will fare in games going forward, but the season goals are still achievable.
  21. AAC refs tend to call in favor of the top teams in the league. It helps leagues status to have a 6-2 SMU at the expense of Tulsa.
  22. Teams are going through bad seasons in the East, but there are still 3 top 25 teams and one just outside in Navy in the conference. Look at Wisconsin. They play in the Big 10 and play a Charmin soft schedule this year. It just so happens that we had 2 good OOC opponents fall through and we missed the top 3 teams out West (combined 18-5 record). Temple, ECU, and Cincy have all recently been pretty good but are struggling this year. This isn't the normal year, but it sucks when we are set up with perhaps our best team ever to not face any tough teams to this point.
  23. Tulane fumbled snap in the end zone for a TD. Probably game over.
