If he wasn't treated so unfairly by CWT, he never would have turned to a life of crime

That is it exactly. From what I've heard he went to the owner of the place the next day to apologize and the owner was quite understanding and helped ease what could have been a really bad development in his life.

That is great to hear. He manned up to the situation and admitted his mistake. I am sure he learned a great deal.

Luckily for him the owner was understanding and didn't press charges. Like my dad always said "you're only one poor decision away from ruining your life." I'm sure this opened his eyes about what could have happened to him.
