I knew that would entice a response.

Some coaches work harder than some professors.

I'll agree to

Most NCAA BBall coaches work harder than most professors.

(and without the guarantee of lifetime employment)

Funny man. I am with JTrue on this one.

Tenure for a college professor is an important and stressful part of research. It provides the freedom for scientist to explore subjects and understanding that may go against popular wisdom. That being said it's very difficult to obtain and is a double edged sword. It can literally drive you insane.

Anyone remember her:

Considering she shot and killed her brother when she was younger, I'm not sure it was the push for tenure that made her insane.

I wasn't really talking about the general population (Flutie Effect), more so about getting high-level recruits who want to be part of consistently good program.

In that case I guess I fail to see what "value" that perpetuates since, as we already covered, this isn't a revenue sport.

One can say, college coaches are professors. They teach. They mentor. And they play a big key with the schools investments! They deserve top pay.

It drove her to an insane act of killing her former colleagues. High pressure situation caused her to breakdown, but your probably right it wasn't the root.
