First, I like Marquel, always thought he was a good guy, and loved him on the field as our QB. For the younger Bulls fans out there, do yourself a favor and watch a good long clip real (if not the whole game) ... USF at Pitt, 2001.

Here is what I never understood. Marquel was a coach on Taggart's staff at WKU. Then Taggart gets the USF job, I would have just assumed that Marquel was the single most obvious choice to bring to Tampa and name a coach. But Taggart never did that. I have no idea why, and I am not taking sides, but I always wondered what was up with that.

I also wondered about that.

Maybe it's because Taggart is a great HR Director (recruiting) but not so much as COO (game mgmt, player development) or CEO (vision, strategy)?

Remember the Peter Principle?

I actually wonder about that HR because it seems it a lot of credit for these past two recruiting classes seems to be from possibly due to the director of player personnel who just left.

Yeah, pretty much....Also, if he was such an asset as an on the field coach and such a luck to bring kids in locally he wouldn't have been coaching high school ball this past fall.  Someone somewhere would've brought him in.  Once again he's brought on a staff in an off the field position where cannot actively recruit.  Also, UF doesn't need him to pull from the bay area, they're already in the thick of it every year for the elite talent with or without Blackwell.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
