Judy is not directly responsible for the athletic woes.  She has done a phenomenal job with the academic side of USF and has raised a lot of money for USF.  That is her primary job.

 

The only thing you can fault her is delegating the responsibility of athletics to an AD who was obviously on cruise control the last few years of his tenure at USF.  We have an young new AD who should turn things around.  It will take more than a year to do so.  He has already put CWT on notice that the football program has to perform better. 

 

Men's BB has a reprieve because of the coaching change and the massive defections of players after USF fired Stan Heath.  I will never understand why a large number of players get upset and transfer after the firing of a coach.  Heath was fired for inconsistent results, and the same thing happens to bosses in regular 9 to 5 jobs. 

 

Women's BB has been a bright spot for USF for years.  The hiring of Coach Fernandez turned into a brilliant move, considering the controversy that surrounded the coach before him.  Of all the coaches at USF, he is the most deserving of contract extensions and salary increases.

I go back to a home game against PITT on a Thursday night maybe 3 or 4 years ago (have no grasp on time). It was the first time I looked around and could tell there was no energy in the crowd. It's been a few seasons since then.

Actually, it's been quite a while since that term was used in here. I think most finally realized how incredibly ridiculous it sounds when used in that context ...

 

 

Judging by our attendance I would say more likely the fans demanding excellence followed through and moved on...

Many times its due to the incoming coach "encouraging" current players to look elsewhere...as the incoming coach generally has 3 years or so to turn things around, coaches want extra scholarships to bring in their own recruits vs being stuck with players for 2-3 years that they don't want to use in their system.

 

Since the 5/8 rule was rescinded...that makes it soooo much easier for coaches to "dump" players they don't want...and not have scholarship restriction numbers to deal with (i.e. old rule was max of 5 players in one year, 8 in 2 years...regardless how many available scholarships you had available).

Doubtful .... Whining on a message board isn't "demanding excellence". If they sent correspondence to the powers that be demanding we win the conference or they'd jump ship and then followed through, you'd have a point.

Well you really don't even need the correspondance. By following through, the bean counters will see it in their metrics.
