I suspect we could find a few big money donors to get started on an OCS, if and when we're ready.
BrahmanBullzzz Posted October 13, 2014 Group: Member Topic Count: 5 Content Count: 50 Reputation: 6 Days Won: 0 Joined: 11/30/2013 Share Posted October 13, 2014 question, for the veterans of this board, is the ocs grumbling becoming more vocal or just the status quo? I am firmly in the OCS camp. IMO the only thing hindering the OCS is our current commitment to lease RayJay (which conveniently ends in 2017). Financing such a project requires the ability to make 100+ million in capital, and based on the prior Unstoppable campaign and Harlan's track record of fundraising that figure should not be overly difficult to achieve. If memory serves, the previous unstoppable campaign raised 100 million for capital projects (the shiny new athletic district) and for scholarships. Phase II was announced last year with a goal of raising like $400 million more. As for parking, I think USF will not make their stadium unless they can also add additional parking garages which may service the campus everyday. Either way, I implore all to stay the course this will get righted, and the current AD will do it. Go Bulls!

No doubt about it. However,... they can't. So there is no need to talk about it right now. They most certainly can I would love for USF to prove me wrong. Every negative thing I say about USF... I am HOPING to be wrong. Judy Genshaft is giving it thought so that means to me they are looking at it down the road.I can get a good look at a TBone steak by sticking my head up a bull's ass, but I'd rather take the butcher's word for it. Up the duck's ass was enough for one lifetime?

Funny. Good point. Pic is not me BTW, just one I found for our Sun Bowl game against the Ducks. The quote is from Tommy Boy. It will cost a lot of money, and we are currently paying for 3 head football coaches after receiving decreased television/BCS money. - I do think the power that be are working to get a plan in place. In the past the OCS issue was met with a mere mention, followed by a rousing review of RayJay. That attitude has swayed some. There is more talk and details now than there was 2-3 years ago. Both Judy and Harlan have openly discussed it. - I think the attendance increase is overblown, but atmosphere is not. USF still has an identity crisis when it comes to campus life. Add to it, Ray Jay is a lot bigger than we'll need anytime soon. - Some still have an attachment to RayJay. It's a great venue, but not for USF football. Even at our peak the actual attendance was in the 30k range (according to TSA/VooDooFive). It's tough to get a great crowd when the 30,000 there are swallowed by 35,000 open seats. My only quibble would be the suggestion that past/current head coach and TV contracts make a difference when deciding when and whether to proceed with a $150m stadium project. Otherwise, I agree with your post.

(Not ragging on OP at all, appreciate new threads) Now I have gone back and actually read the post. All I can say is wow. So many levels, so many things. Just wow. Thing is that not all of it... How ill it effect the landscape of the campus, how will the traffic be getting in and out, do we need to buy more land, Natural grass or Turf, and what about hurricanes and sinkholes? This is just scratching the surface on something that is 10yrs down the road. You need to be on the planning board for this project. Are you a freshman? High School JR Can you play QB ? The area in the upper left of your project (near Fowler & Bruce B Downs) is not actually part of USF. It's been leased to the Research Park. The area in the lower right is a wetlands area, which will mean a significantly more difficult permitting process. It's also a bit small. The area in the lower left ("Fowler Field") is a bit too small as well - even a small stadium like Bright House Field (UCF) would be too small. If we were to build one that would fit a stadium and the needed surrounding areas ... you would look at the space where the track is... here is a mockup using Papa John's Stadium from Louisville. Thank you for that but if we have the stadium there we will have to make 2 of those areas I circle parking lots for the stadium. Then we can make the stadium with track in it too or move the track thing somewhere else. Id say that there are numerous sections within the stadium that a family of 4 could sit in ( some with or some without a donation) at a reasonable cost. Single game tickets are 15.00 (family of 4 can attend for the cost of 1 Buc Lower Level seat). I also Believe USF has season tickets for under 100.00 a seat as well. Depends on how you live and how you spend your money, your income to debt ratio as well. So All families of 4 are not equal. Thats true thing is for me what about the family who's on hard times and would die for USF we can make it easier for them to get those tickets and at a good spot too and that will also improve the image of USF and bring more people in. The place holder is already in place. As of now an OCS would go on the current varsity tennis complex and adjacent parking lot. Part of building an OCS would be to relocate the tennis complex up behind the new softball stadium. Only one small additional parking lot would need to be built for handicapped access and that would be across the street in the clear area just to the north of that corner. The large lots just to the south would more than accommodate parking. Also, you would be able to park off the road much like they do at UF. Parking at the SunDome and walking to the stadium would also be an option... heck... we walked farther than that at UF and at UCF. +1 OCS right in the thick of the campus....right where the tennis courts are and/or move the soccer/field & track area and/or the softball fields and/or the FB practice fields and/or that road that runs North/South along the running trail with the surrounding mostly empty area East to 50th to accommodate. The more "in" the campus the better.
