We had 1 scholarship QB and three scholarship WRs when Holtz arrived, what's your point? That's inaccurate. Evan Landi was BJ's backup and Jamius Gunsby was also on the team when Holtz came in. There were plenty of WRs, but there were quite a few injuries leading to Landi and Lamar joining the group. You also mentioned that White was ready to commit before Taggart came in. Is this true? I don't remember reading anything about USF having contact with White prior to Taggart coming in. 2010 Roster: http://www.gousfbulls.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPSID=37330&SPID=2981&DB_OEM_ID=7700&Q_SEASON=2010

CSH was recruiting him for ECU and brought him here ..... and there was contact with White before CWT got here but never got a commitable offer until the phone call from Taggart on the day he was hired. Honestly the graph, and everything we see in College Football says the exact opposite though. Recruiting is EVERYTHING. -Out of the teams who ranked less than 60th in recruiting, only 11 finished ranked on the field in the Top 60. -Out of the teams who ranked higher than 60th in recruiting only 13 finished at less than 60th in the actual rankings. Look at Ole Miss right now. In 2011 they ranked 20th in recruiting. 2012 - 40th. 2013 though they were 7th. Now in 2014 all of that talent they hauled in including 4 5-Stars has them sitting as a legit Top 5 team. Same deal with Florida State. In 2011 and 2012 they pulled in Top 5 classes. Now they are a Top 5 team. The graph says from 2009 on we recruited at about 56th in the country and that was when we played with teams outrecruiting us like Cincy and West Virginia. Taggart right now is recruiting at about a 30th - 40th level, and we are in a conference with teams recruiting close to the 100's. If Taggart keeps up the recruiting, the Bulls are just going to out-talent 7 - 8 teams on our schedule every year, and those other 4 - 5 games will come down to coaching. There are programs like Texas, Ohio State, and maybe 8-10 more that are truly in the upper echelon. The 50 or so that make up the rest are no better than us. BC, Washington State, Iowa State, Illinois... no reason that when we are humming, we can't compete with these programs in any sense of the word. Eveld was on Scholarship but started out as a walk on. So yes, he was on scholarship but wasn't a scholarship level recruit... Um, ok.

There were only a couple of injuries to the WRs. Leavitt was running the spread offense and only had a half dozen or so on the roster. There was an article earlier this year that confirms that White was recruited by Holtz staff and was about to receive an offer when Holtz was fired. Taggart offered him after CWT had only been here about two hours, and CWT had never heard of White before he stepped on USF campus. White was definitely being recruited by Holtz for some time, though some believe that because Taggart made the actual phone call that somehow makes him the super-recruiter that landed White. But USF was in the top 50 before Taggart showed up, yet we still can't win games. So I'm don't follow. Look how quickly Dave Doeren turned around NCSt after doing the same at NIU. That guy can take his'n and beat your'n, then take your'n and beat his'n. That is the kind of guy I want as our coach.
