When was the last time someone actually "Hit Hootie"?

Trying to shed some humor in here, so bear with me

 

I can't even remember, the last time someone actually hit Hootie with a football

 

Can we please maybe move them up 10 yards? Because Hootie gets about 5 seconds to change direction before the ball comes close to hitting him

 

Maybe I'm just being bitter, but I kinda look forward to seeing that owl get drilled at least once a season. Hasn't happened in at least 5 years

 

 

At the NC State game, the 2nd guy hit Hootie with his last throw.

It wasnt a hit directly in the middle... it hit Hootie right on the side (a glancing hit).

 

The guy did what people who throw 2nd almost never do... he waited until Hootie moved over to his side.

 

Usually the person throwing 2nd starts throwing the football almost immediately after the first guy does, while Hootie is still in position in front of the first thrower (an even longer/harder throw.)

I never understand why they dont wait until he moves over to their side.

This is a great thread.

I think that Hit Hootieâ„¢ is perhaps the oldest tradition that USF football has. I seem to remember him being around even in the first season.

During his first few years of going to USF games Hit Hootieâ„¢ was my son's favorite part of the experience. (He is 18 now).
