This one always mystified me.

The other real headshaker was taking Doug Williams over Hershell Walker

Can you imagine Dorsett and Walker in the same backfield?

Doug came out about 5 years before Walker ....

... and there was a Dorsett/Walker backfield, in Dallas, for one or two years.

Good find, I saw that too. Walker's over 50 and still talking about trying to play football! He's got his Jordan glasses on, but you gotta hand it to the dude, he's stinkin FIT for +50!!

[edit] Highlighted for clarity.

That was Bo Jackson. Walker was never a draft pick as he signed with the USFL's NJ Generals after his Jr. Year.

Actually, he was drafted by the Cowboys in 1985 and went there when the USFL folded ...

Yep, I believe that Dallas took a chance with a 5th round selection. Forgot about that.

They could have had a Dorsett/Earl Campbell backfield.

The Bucs traded their 78(?) 1st overall pick to Houston, who drafted Earl Campbell, and the Bucs took Doug Williams.

Never would have been a Dorsett/Campbell backfield. You don't draft running backs as your #1 pick two years in a row ...

LOL, we didn't draft EITHER of them, so you're 1000% accurate.

  .... That was in response to "they could have had a Dorsett/Campbell backfield" .... meaning even if they had drafted Dorsett over Bell, they wouldn't have drafted Campbell the next year.
