I understand it is a large amount of weight. But you'd think, after 5 years of working hard in a strength and conditioning program at a D1 university, that he'd at least be able to lift the same, if not more than the weight he's lifted as a freshman. Positive progression is only natural if he is under a good S&C program.

My point is these kids should have been getting better, not worse and now trying to get back to where they were.

He did have that off year where he had grade trouble which put him on the sideline.

So in 5 years he was not able to keep AT LEAST the same level of physical fitness that he had when coming in as a freshman????

I find that extremely hard to believe unless the strength and conditioning program was completely incompetant.

If you believe Lynch, it was. Hopefully we find stability and skill in our coaching staff now.

It's my opinion that our conditioning program was inadequate for division 1 as well but I don't think anybody here believes Lynch so there's that.

But if focus shifts for him to speed or endurance since his strength is already very high... If he gets faster and less tired on the field but his single rep max falls to 600 lbs he could still be better off.

If he was squatting like 400 an it fell to 300 that would be a lot more concerning but 740 lbs you don't need to squat more. Being faster and having more endurance is probably a better improvement.
