I think a lot of our fans want the no CCG game to be an issue because it forces expansion.

With the playoff being put together in 10 months.

1. there has been no direct quote from anyone saying a conference championship game gives an advantage

2. the Big 12 has taken no steps to expand

3. no other conferences have said the Big 12 need a conference championship.

That might happen down the line. At this point, it isn't an issue

I don't know about this. Without divisons that league is dead imo. Hopfully I am wrong for the sake of that league, but back in the BCS era a conference like that would work, but not in the playoffs era. It is now playoffs or bust with four spots up for grabs. Big bowl games won't cut it anymore.

The Big East rarely had a undefeated champion in a league where everyone plays each other once. It happened twice since 2005. Yet to happen in the Big 12's one for one model. The margin of error is very small for them. If they don't expand in the near future, UCF and USF the clock starts in t minus two years tops.

How though. Everything you just said is "it just won't work"

Just reasonably looking at it. There is no way a 1 loss Texas, Oklahoma, etc gets left out of a playoff specifically because they didn't have a title game.

Their schedule isn't that impressive. It can happen easily. And we aren't just talking about Texas or Oklahoma. What about Texas Tech, Okie State, Baylor? Baylor would have been left out last year. One more win could have pushed them in.
I bolded the key part of my statement. Reread it.

A CCG will help their SOS and it will be one of the criteria the committee looks at. They've all said so.

Under that scenario...the reason the they would be kept out is because of a bad SOS. NOT because they didn't have a conference championship game. Right?

And the committee has not said the conference championship game is criteria. No one can provide a link where they specifically say the conference championship GAME is a factor.

I think he meant the SOS will be one of the criteria .... and there is always a chance the CCG could hurt an SOS, also.

Delusional wishful thinking

I'll take it, as long as it's wishful. The money alone would secure our future.

Not much else to hold on to these days for USF.

Great fb recruiting class and softball/baseball/golf/tennis are doing well...that's about it. WBB has an outside shot at the NCAA tourney, but they'd really need to turn it on here.

To my thinking, the possibility of allowing colleges to pay athletes stipends will drive more realignment then CCG will.  Some P5 schools just won't step up to the plate for that (WF, Pitt, etc...).  Then what?  Aresco sounds like he's pro stipend, and I'm sure USF and most other conference mates will be as well.  I would think the ability to pay this (or not) will be what decides who sits at the big boy table and who doesn't.

Normally I would agree with you.  Not in this case, however.  :)
