So, who has a shot at contributing right away?

I think you give Tyre a shot at returns. I think you put Abraham, Hollywood, Nichols and Sawyer straight into DB competition I think D. Hill  at DE is ready. Gotta throw Blackwood and Mayes out there because of all the holes in DL 2 deep. Great competition at LB from Black, Holman, Jackson and Harley. Knox and Smith close at OL. Hudson not far behind. Bronson is ready to go at WR.

If the new OTs are starting games this year we are in trouble.

The recruiting class that was ranked 29th was poised to have a breakout year after beating FSU and then Clemson in the bowl game. Unfortunately CJL was fired and Skip Holtz and his staff destroyed them and left the team with an incredible lack of talent at skill positions.

CWT started building up the talent last year as evidenced by how many true freshman played. This class significantly build on last year. That along with a better strength and conditioning should show some improvement this year and then significant improvement two years from now.

Also CWT has tweaked his offensive staff which also will help immensely .

Ahem ... the Clemson bowl win came with Skip at the helm.  CJL's last bowl win was in the International Bowl in Toronto, against Northern Illinois.

The base argument for a transfer QB is the need for 4 on the roster. Who do we have after tommy white and flowers?

Floyd was saying he would transfer out himself

Skips first year success was a result of the CJL recruiting class including the Clemson win. The wide spread expectation was that the team should only improve as those players matured. We all know what transpired the next two years.

CWT is rebuilding the talent level and my belief is he will do a much better job of coaching. Also IMO he has has put together a first rate coaching staff. I was impressed that he disregarded loyalty when he fired the OC. That tells me he is serious about winning.

How do you explain the first third of the next season, the one with the historic Notre Dame win and scoring 182 points in the first 4 games?  How was  "the talent ... destroyed" between week 4 and week 5? Actually, that season looked like every single CJL season, losing in conference after a successful early run which included beating better teams. 5 of the 7 losses were 1 score and many were lost in the last quarter, some the last play. What seemed to happen was the team actually tried too hard to win. To me, that is the season that should have been one of the best in USF's history, but at the worse possible moment in 5 of those games, someone on defense decided that he had to do something to save the day and the result was leaving part of the field open and an opportunity that was taken advantage every time. Of courses its Hotlz fault too for getting ahead and then starting to be conservative and when the defense brain farted, it was enough to lose the game since the offense was in time chew mode. But I don't think the talent was destroyed, it was there but not used to the fullest for 2/3 of the season.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”
