We have a better market and better athletic revenues than UCF.  Though not by much on either account.

If they can snowball their BCS game into pushing their revenues substantially in front of ours, then they have a case to be clear cut front runners.  Otherwise we're still in a good position, but we need to continue to out hustle them even in our down years.

UCF beat Baylor... A big XII team.

I would not be shocked if UCF looks more attractive to the big XII. We have two wins and lose to an FCS school while UCF goes on to beat the big 12 champion and have a 1 loss season. UCF looks a lot more ready to compete and have an on campus stadium.

Wins and losses have nothing to do with it. Rutgers. Pitt. Syracuse. Boise State.

How many times does it have to be repeated?

And even if wins and losses had anything to do with it, why would UCF's two or three noteworthy wins in 35 years of playing football be enough to push them over the edge? Yeah, because the Big XII administrators are so clueless that they must assume games played within the past three weeks must represent the way things always were and always will be.

You are wrong.

Syracuse and Pitt have national championships and history. Those are wins. It's not recent history bit it's still huge. History is big. Not to mention they have elite basketball programs. Boise is not in the footprint of big 12 and the PAC will not take them no matter how much they win. I'll give u Rutgers but their more about increasing tv dollars. WVU rode a couple BCS wins all the way to the b12 and UCF may do the same.

So Syracuse and Pitt got in despite sucking lately because of their history.

But UCF is going to the Big XII despite their history of sucking because they had two impressive wins this year.

Got it.

3 of the last 4 years they have had 10+ wins.  It's what have you done for me lately.  Their first year in FBS and they won the conference championship.  UCF is a better prospect than USF as of now.  Please stop being so delusion and come to reality.

They had 10 wins against garbage opposition. Again, if consistently winning 10 games against trash opponents gets you in, Boise State would be on the inside looking out. But they aren't, because wins and losses have nothing to do with anything. Anyone who insists otherwise can be refuted with a single word: Rutgers.

That Pitt and Syracuse won football titles decades ago is only a coincidence. They were taken because of their markets, images, and existing relationships (not necessarily just athletics) with other schools in the conference they joined. They haven't won **** in football in years.

And losing to crappy FCS teams should get you in?  No one, including a lot of people in Tampa want to watch USF football.  Our attendance is atrocious.  It's going to take a long time to dig out of this hole.

Point me to where I said USF is going to the Big XII, or any other conference?

Both USF and UCF are stuck in this minor league conference. Neither one is going anywhere.

Also Pitt plays in professional stadium and Syracuse plays football in a basketball gym.

What is the point of announcing your retirement 18 months in advance?

  1. To get paid
  2. To officially surrender
  3. To come clean (been on retirement already)
  4. To save face (assuming there is a shoe to drop)
  5. Get something positive on the internets when people search his name

Won't they also have cool gifts for him at all the away games during his Farewell Tour?

LOL

Yes, his "American" tour will certainly result in much swag, seeing that it's from our competitors. They may hate to see him go though...how dramatic.

Can't wait for UCF to give him 4 military grade puncture proof tires!

Ucf still has a football bowl ban to follow through on, didn't hear anyone mention this yet.

Didn't they appeal to the NCAA and win?

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
