Both are going to continue to grow. And other sports are getting in on the concussion issue, even motor racing, so what happens in those sports may have an impact on football. There is no way the ACC will look USF's way while Miami and FSU are there to block that. The SEC wont bother. The BIG 10 wont expand in Florida. PAC 12 wont expand in Florida. THE BIG 12 is the only small chance. And now it is looking more likely that it wont happen. 2) Yes, I will say by the year 2026.

After the past couple of seasons wouldn't you have to say we're STILL asking that?
Flowers4Heisman Posted January 13, 2014 Group: Member Topic Count: 571 Content Count: 2,816 Reputation: 684 Days Won: 15 Joined: 12/08/2012 Author Share Posted January 13, 2014 Actually, I'm not stirring up trouble. Here's the thing. There's no way we'd even seriously think about an OCS without being solidly embedded in a power conference. And if we were in one, an OCS would say that we are committed, etc., to our fans and our conference. Okay, so getting into a power conference is first. Well, it's a new business model for the NCAA and they will mutate in the next few years. The easiest mutation is adding a few more teams. Here's the point: USF needs to get itself ready (the football engine carries 90% of the load). Right now, we are at the bottom in terms of football results. However, in the short term we have the money, the facilities, and a new staff. (Do you seriously see a future with the same athletics funding if football gets 10K-20K fans for home games and there's very little outside money coming in?) CWT and Co. are the ones who have the potential to get us through this window of opportunity, just like Leavitt got us into the Big East when it was possible. The power conference opportunity: the next three years. Once they have it set, it's going to stay that way. Money monopolies don't change. The OCS opportunity (serious planning, etc.) : within the next five years after getting into a power conference, so that's within the next eight years. There's a ton on the line for CWT and Co. Here's the thing. If they don't do it and we have to go through another rebuilding, the window of power-conference opportunity could be closed. Wouldn't it be the irony of all ironies if another school we all know and hate got in and we stare at a third rebuilding phase?
