Found this article on ESPN.com from our pal BM...

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/9785566/bowl-games-being-created-miami-bahamas-boca-raton

The Miami and Boca Raton bowl games could garner a lot of local interest and could bring much needed "post season" revenue for USF football after this year.

The Miami bowl game is being played in the new Marlin Stadium and the Boca Raton bowl game will be played at FAU's new on campus stadium.

One other bowl to be played in the Bahamas, which in my opinion will not last long (somewhat like the Toronto bowl game that we took part in).

This is a huge mistake.  Though it sounds sexy and a great getaway in December, the passport issue will become huge for attendance.  A lot of people (especially students) just don't have passports and they are not going to pay $300 to expedite one to go to a football game (if that's even possible with 2-3 weeks notice).

There will be 39 next year... ugh! Plus with the powers that be segregating the bowl games into "power conference" bowls and "non-power conference" bowls, it will really suck for exposure.

In the past Ive visited Freeport and did not need a passport.  I dont know if this has changed.  If USF played there Id take a cruise ship and make a weekend of it.  You play the game in the local sportsbook as well.

I think it has changed - they do require passports.

You are right,  people traveling for this bowl game there would need them.  Id drive to Ft Lauderdale, take the Discovery three day to the Bahamas (which is usually <$100 with port fees) and get in with a passport card which is half the price of the book but still has some wait requirements.  Sounds like a great charter opportunity-

Those traveling by sea on an officially-designated “closed-loop cruiseâ€, meaning that the port of entry is the same port as the port of re-entry upon return to the U.S., may enter using a passport, passport card, or other Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) compliant document

*Discovery stopped doing this in 2011, so unless Id be swimming across, scratch that.

They have these new IDs (really not so new anymore) that you can get to go to the Bahamas or a Passport. You are right on though. Plus I think the Bahemians are more into soccer, cricket and baseball than college football.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
