Noon game ... dark jerseys ... makes perfect sense.

What other color jersey would you expect us to wear at home?

White .... We do have the choice, correct? Or am I thinking of the NFL ....? And also, if the choice has to be made before the season, I would kind of understand.

Per NCAA rules, the home team can only wear white jerseys if it has been agreed upon by the visiting team prior to the start of the season.  If you want a link, you'll have to look it up.  I'm too lazy today to do so.

Went to the link, and maybe I missed it, but I didn't see a specified penalty if we wore white jerseys .... I think it's worth the gamble.

Isn't this a relic of black and white TV and wanting a stark contrast between teams for the viewers?

I was reading the glove rule, it says gloves must be gray in color on the back.

I think as a player, you'd want a significant contrast also.

If you're talking about this:

3. If on the kickoff at the start of each half the visiting team wears a
colored jersey in violation of the conditions specified in Rule 1-4-3-
a-2 (above), it is a foul for unsportsmanlike conduct.
PENALTY—Administer as a dead-ball foul. 15 yards at the succeeding
spot after the kickoff. If the kickoff is returned for a
touchdown, the penalty is assessed either on the try or
on the succeeding kickoff, at the option of the home team
[s27]

That only appears to address the visiting team having a wrong colored jersey.
