walking on and actually making the team is incredibly hard...

 

walking on and PLAYING is even harder... especially at QB

 

I dont think anyone on campus can play better than Eveld or Bench.

isn't eveld a walk-on?

 

he was, I believe skip put him on scholarship....also believe his brother still is a walkon

Had a friend who tried out while Leavitt was coach, didnt make it, and another guy from my high school walked on at wide receiver but never saw any game time then transferred to another university.

Texas Tech starting QB is a walk-on.

There is a huge difference between walk-on and preferred walk on.

The kid from Texas Tech had a bunch of good offers for schollies at a bunch of pretty good schools, but he wanted to play at a Texas school. He was not an unknown that just showed up at practice one day and said "hey, let's give this a shot". The Texas Tech coaches knew who he was

Haven't heard any more updates there, but interesting that this has already been entertained and DONE!

I would love to know the thoughts of that bench warmer at UCLA. Wonder if he wishes he was playing now for USF or glad he's getting splinters.
