... do we just start throwing seniors and juniors off the team, or bench them for their performances and begin starting freshman and focusing on next season?

For me its if we lose to FAU.

I think that would be an overreaction. I think CWT will make examples of a couple of slackers but they will not want to give the impression all is lost. Its not.

We will struggle year but we should hope for steady improvements.

O'leary lost every game his first year. Lets hope we don't have to experience that. That would really test the fan base.

Fan Base?! We got 22k to a home opener with a new coach...with $8 tickets and 10k of that was students who were there to get drunk primarily. Fan base!? Fan Base!? Don't talk to me about fan base!? lol

It was nuked into oblivion last year.  A new coach doesn't guarantee a change right away as evidenced by Saturday's performance.  Many people don't want to waste their money and precious Saturday evenings on a horrible product.  Life is too short!

A coach does not guarantee a change right away, but lets be real, it was McNeese state, and it wasn't just a "loss" it was a blowout and a new record low for USF. To just chalk last week up as a loss, as many are doing, diminishes the significance of the loss. This made ugly look pretty.

We don't know the significance of the loss yet. Right now, it was just one game ... If it doesn't get much better than that, we'll know it was a harbringer of things to come. If things go as we hope they do, it becomes a fluke and forgotten about ... except to those that like to wallow in that kind of stuff.

If the board melts down worse for a loss to UCF than it did for getting blown out by an FCS team, the board has issues ...

Ok, the board does have issues ... but most are rational enough to realize that, unless something changes between now and the end of November, we're going into that game an underdog. To react to that loss, if it happens, worse than a blowout from a team we were a 3 td favorite would be the epitome of cluelessness. To be sure, we'd have some of the usual suspects grandly overreacting but I just don't see a huge board meltdown.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
