Well let's hope at least part of the B12 and USF/UCF expansion rumors come to pass since FSU and Miami may not be leaving.

Yeah.  Hopefully the right part.

The Big East took USF over UCF.  That's all the proof I need to know we're still ahead of them.

There is no more them and us... per that friendship agreement we inked with UCF this past season, we are now married at the hip... USF/UCF is now an army of two.

What is with all the UCF and USF sentiment. We do not need our markets tied together. We don't need to rely on our close geography to produce a profitable television deal. If we focus our attention on that Orlando campus, we will only be stunting our long term growth. I understand the situation that we are in now: left behind in a dying conference that just raked through CUSA out of desperation.

We just merely need to win. Win games. Win games throughout the season, beat the folks over at UCF, beat our rivals in the Northeast, and win championships. Only then, will large conferences recognize us as a valuable program. No need to carry UCF into any sort of spot light for short-term gratitude or recognition. Building a strong program takes time, from what I understand.

Based on what the Big 12 Commissioner is saying, I don't see us moving there anytime soon. The only hope is if Fox decides to step up and invest and then ptessure the Big 12. Seems unlikely.

We not only need to win big, but we need to become an exciting team that draws interest on a national basis.

Just winning games isn't going to do it. Just winning conference championships will not do anything to make us interesting or beneficial to a power conference.

My suggestion would be to take a good chunk of the conference buyout cash and hire a big time PR/marketing firm to create an exciting story and start selling the program to a national audience.

Our chances of conference realignment will be predicated on adding value to a new conference meaning we need to bring actual viewers to our games. The only way that is happening is if we have something unique to sell. Lots of teams win. We need to win with style to get noticed. Think about it. When Miami was growing, they broke through because they did it in the brashest style ever.

We had the perfect story start-up program, growing from trailers, quirky coach, exciting, marketable players (Hall then Grothe)..We didn't capitalize.

It ain't just about winning. It is about creating viewership plain and simple. We need to become a true national brand.

Florida will soon pass New York as 3rd most populous state after only California and Texas.  Florida supports 3 NFL teams...Florida can support 3 major athletic conferences too...SEC, ACC, and Big 12.   Adding both USF and UCF as a package to Big 12 long term in growing Florida market could make economic sense for all members of Big 12.  The AAC has lots of potential for USF...the Big 12 would offer USF more though.

Just sheer population does not mean these people are potential fans of USF/UCF. Florida is a unique market because it has a higher percentage of transient residents. We are not just competing with UF, FSU and Miami for support. We are competing with all the other teams whose fans relocated to FL.

Haven't seen anything titled "Big 12 Wants to Get Into Florida" since my filming years.

Sounds like a John Holmes film :FIREdevil:

Has anyone ever dated a fluffer?

Ok with all the mid-west retirees does this not make even more sense for the BIG 12??

The Fla east coast is mainly from the NE corridor...the Central...USF area is more from the mid west corridor...

That makes more sense for the Big 10.  Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New York.  Those are the states where the people move to Florida.

The Big 10 should have a Florida team just as the north east in the former Big East and in the NFL had/has Miami.

Go Bulls!

Interesting thought. Is this why we first played in the NFC with GB, Chi, MN, and Det, I wonder? Help the expansion team out by setting them up for oppostition ticket sales. Could the NFL have been that savvy in the 70's?
