Very sad. Only spent a short stent with USF and was released for violation of team and university policies. Unfortunately he had a troubled life. Plus most public schools do not have the resources to function as a rehabilitation center. Also, perhaps not in this situation, but some kids need to simply learn the hardway...unfortunately all too often it ends up bad.

Many of these kids come from horrible environments and football is an out. Very true.

Looks like Durant wasn't able to make that decision. Sad.

According to state records, McCallum has served three prison sentences in Florida since 1997 for armed robbery, drug trafficking and child neglect convictions Speaking of real class acts.................... Arrest records show Durant had been arrested for possession of marijuana that spring, and he would be arrested at least a dozen more times since on charges ranging from possession of cocaine to theft. He spent a combined 28 months in jail from 2005-07 on multiple charges, and was arrested three times in Gainesville last year.

The coaches gave him many opportunities to straighten up before he finally beat up his g/f and threw her down the stairs. As DeAndrew Rubin stated yesterday in a FB post to former teammates, Reshod was arguably the best receiver to ever play at USF (that says a lot coming from DRube). Reshod exposed certain former players to situations that they never should have gotten themselves into. We always hoped that maybe things would click for him upstairs, but it's obvious that wasn't the case. Was talking with a former player at my house about two weeks ago and Reshod's name came up (Reshod was by far the roughest kid I ever played football with - and I came from a not-so-nice neighborhood). Interesting on his take considering he's a coach now. Here's hoping Reshod's death will waken his friends and family members up that haven't separated themselves from the individuals that bring them down. Reshod had all the potential in the world... our coaches gave him chances... he never took advantage of those chances unfortunately. RIP Reshod. It's a sad day to lose a teammate.
