We're already making a poster board that says "Reserved for Lennay Kekua", and putting it in an empty seat in the front row. I like some of these ideas as well

guess you put that in the front row at Gasparilla because it was not at the game.  Just like our students.

Noon game, early in semester on a saturday, should have been packed with students.  We suck as fans plain and simple.  I guess the next thread is we should put an OCS in the dorms because across campus is too far.

Gasparilla played a huge role in attendance. I have a lot of friends that usually go to games, about 15-20, but just about everyone went to downtown Tampa.

Now, THAT's funny.

And sad...

Season Ticket holders showed up thankfully.   Student turn out was poor.

I think a huge factor was the weather. Usually every time Gasparilla come around, the weather is overcast, cold and/or rainy. When it's sunny and 75 outside, Gasparilla is hard to compete with, especially if you're a student.

Actually, he just ran out of time to make it. Plus, the first row was actually full when he got there, so there was no room.

I'm one who actually gets on the students case, but not this game.  Sure there weren't as many as the previous few games, but considering Gasparilla, I thought a good number showed up and were actually more active than some of the larger student turnouts.  The lower bowl stood almost the entire game and made noise.

Going up against Gasparilla is going to hurt student turnout for anything.

Also, the Big East did us no favors by scheduling it at noon instead of an evening game so students could go as the after-party.  Which draws me to another topic, marketing.  Couldn't we have made it a themed game to try and boost some attendance?  Give out beads to the students. Give Rocky a pirate hat and hook.  Make it an event. And this sort of thing should apply to other games (throwback night, Gold Game, Slumber Party for the 9pm tipoffs)
