Mark Royals was pretty much spot on... except it is grossly unfair to lay the blame directly on BJ Daniels. That kid played his heart out, he just wasn't a D1 QB. It was the coaches fault (and as Mark suggested - recruiting) that we tried to develop BJ into a D1 QB. And the lack of production and performance, the inability to throw simple screen passes or even hang on to the football is probably the foremost cause of our slide in the past few years. Sure, BJ was better than his walk-on backups, but that hardly disproves Mark's statement!

wow both of you haven't a clue. not a d-1 QB?? do you watch college football at all?? he was easily in the top half of d-1 QBs for all 4 of his years.he was easily in the top half of big east QBs in all 4 years as well. I've seen some stupid things posted on this board before but this one just might take the cake. wow.

what was his conference record in 4 years

he was not in the top half of all starters---NOT BY A LONG SHOT

bj couldnt hit open receivers time and time again

my eyeS dont lie

The yardage alone says BJ was in the top half of QBs. At least half of D1 QBs could not have put up the combined yardage he did.

Shows he doesn't understand much about the program.

Must be pretty good at punting though, maybe.

Your eyes lied, unless of course you watched all 124 FBS team's QBs this season. Trust me, there were 62 QBs worse than BJ.

BJ was a good athlete who ended up being the best of the QB talent we had at the time...which lies on the former coach and staff on not getting better talent to complete. BJ played his heart out and did the best he could, but could never seem to correct his mistakes or errors (picks, fumbles, missed receivers, etc) and those mistakes would bite us each time. Good coaching would put him in postion to succeed, and maybe get him some help at the RB position too. Yards are nice to look at, but that doesn't mean he was a great QB...it just means he was a one man band. It will be interesting to see what brand of football USF becomes since the past few we've had have been this duel threat style.

I think it's unfair for any "analyst" former "any professional athlete" to lay blame on one person, when most logical people realize our issues stemmed from several issues. We were failing at all phases of the game...BJ wasn't playing D when our secondary was leaving WR's open and extending series with stuid PF penalites.

I think this guys was hoping to spark some interest in his show and thought to throw BJ under the bus since he really can't defend himself with this play now
