Recruiting class on Paper is one thing,  Converting that to wins on the court is another and for that Stan Needs to Go.

Right. A recruiting class that has played a whopping 17 games .... un-freaking-believable.

Says the Doug Woolard and Skip Holtz lover :):icon_drink:  :icon_drink:  :roflmao:

Not lover, apologist ...  ;)

I really think Stan is trying and I'm not sure he knowingly committed an NCAA violation (if there is even one).  I do question his coaching effectiveness and the ability to develop his players.

I agree.  After all it has been 7 or so years.  I think he finally has the recruiting class to build something on, needs a few more of those.  But I'm hoping we see it converted to smarter on court play and decisions.  We also need to play with a little more desire to win.  We get out hustled too much.  That's not a good sign.

Don't think firing him is the right move. He just got a new slew of resources ( new facilities, easier conference,  hopefully new AD will help w/ naming rights and boost bball revs) and needs to be given time to use them.

USF is not a traditional bball destination. It's hard to win here. I'd say a few years into the new sun dome/ new conference and then we have a better idea.

Pretty much nailed it ...

I agree with this too...just not that it's time to fire him.

It is hard to believe that Heath's team out hustled a lot of teams just a few seasons ago. He has had three 20 wins seasons at USF. So we all know he can win. Just cant understand why he cant win with this team right now. The missed FT's have been killer. No outside shooters. The AC injury. Worse of all is the defense in the game against SMU. Heath usually has his teams playing good defense. I have not seen that this year.  Heath is right in that they wont win if they cant play good D.

I Agree players need to play with more hustle and desire.(has the team quit on him or are they not buying what he is selling them)?

Also not sure  but it appears that whenever a player struggles ( even for a minute or two and misses a shot) Stan is quick to pull the trigger and sub them out. BB players need time to heat up, get in a grove. Just question Stan's game management.   Also another example is when he put Jordan in a cpl weeks ago, Had 2 points, a huge rebound and block shot within 2 minutes. Unfort Stan didn't put him in until the last 2 minutes of the game, even though the other teams Big was eating us up in the middle.  Why not put Jordan in and let him pound on the other Big (even if its to draw fouls)?   Not sold on the coach and time will tell.

Also  the Free throw shooting it horrible at best. No excuse for this.

I believe that this is his last season with USF. If he doesn't show improvement the rest of the season He wont be back next year just my opinion.

Only about a year and a half ago:

Stan Heath is a survivor.

Frequently cited in recent years by college basketball writers encouraged to compile lists of “coaches on the hot seat,” Heath instead wound up the 2012 season in the NCAA Tournament.

And that led Friday to the news that he’ll be receiving a six-year contract extension from South Florida.

So his seat should remain cool for the next several years, as his term runs through the 2018 school year.

USF announced a similar extension for football coach Skip Holtz, as well.

"We're pleased to be able to extend Coach Holtz and Coach Heath," athletic director Doug Woolard said in a statement obtained by the Tampa Bay Times. "They're great representatives for both USF and their respective programs. I have great confidence in the leadership they are providing and the future of both our football and men's basketball programs."

Heath has been at USF since 2007, following stints at Kent State and Arkansas.

The Bulls, making their first NCAA Tournament since 1992, reached the third round of the NCAAs with victories over California and Temple.

They finished the season at 22-14 with a 12-6 record in Big East play.

The Tribune reported Heath’s new contract averages $1.19 million annually, which represents a 32 percent increase over his previous salary.

I forgot Doug made him a millionaire, too.  Regardless of past performance, the salaries Woolard was tossing around to these guys puts them under a requirement to produce, urgently.

So that is the reason why Musa is not making his shots??

A coach, honestly, shouldn't call Musa a three-point specialist.  Nor should he be played in that capacity.

Yes, Both Doug and Judy decided to give a contract extention which is the right call as Heath did the unthinkable. Heath got USF to the BIG DANCE!!!! And not only that, he wont two games in the BIG DANCE!!! We may not see that happen for a long time.
