The Yale bowl had more than 320,000 cubic feet of earth moved, contains 22,000 cubic yards of concrete, and 470 tons of steel. Is anyone able to price that out?

Again just because the Yale Bowl does not have internal restrooms or concessions does not mean that a newer copy could not be built to have them included under the berms. The Yale Bowl was built nearly a 100 years ago when inside bathrooms were not a big deal, let alone beer stands. Today tunnels can be built under the berms to fit in bathrooms, concessions, and state of the art locker rooms. The drainage issues are all visual, and can be remedied with more fill dirt. A stadium like this would need to be built on top of a hill of fill dirt, and the dirt can be sloped to allow for proper drainage. Pumps might be needed in the event of a hurricane or something, but with proper drainage the water run off should flow naturally out and into retention ponds.

Also if anyone thinks that USF can afford a $300+ million dollar stadium then your crazy. Given our current conference issues we will be lucky to repay on the loans we have taken out already for the recent athletics upgrades, let alone consider anything as grand as what Minnesota has.

If and when USF is ready to build an OCS it will be a copy of the UCF bowl, and not a copy of what Minnesota has. Our era in the BCS leagues is over and our future is looking like one big downgrade. IF we build an OCS it will be built in relation to our income and our income will be comparable to CUSA $$, not Big10 money like Wisconsin.

I don't know about you all but I would rather have a 60K amended version of the Yale Bowl, which was the template for the Rose Bowl, then a 40K version of Brighthouse Stadium or FAU stadium for $200 million.

I'd also like to see if anyone can find another stadium design that would be both suitable and cheaper then the Yale Bowl... I have looked at tons of stadiums and the Yale Bowl is the only cheap option I would settle for.

A few things:

1. USF is in no rush to build an OCS. There is no evidence to suggest that we would get more, "paying" fans or better recruits with an OCS.

2. We will not build a 60k version of the Yale Bowl

3. We will not build a 40k version of Bright House

4. Every facility upgrade or new construction has been top notch and would expect that to continue when an OCS is built.

5. It will meet the desires of our boosters.

Yes but your leaving out that the facilities upgrades occurred in the Big East era, when we were guaranteed Big East $$. That era is now dead and we are now staring down the barrel of a program downgrade which will set us back financially and force us to build new additions that are inline with what ever crapfest of a conference we end up in.

Our boosters can wish for the moon, but if we only have CUSA level $$ then I don't see how we can afford anything other then a slightly better version of Brighthouse field.

USF is not in a rush to build a new OCS and I imagine that the University won't get serious about one until after Judy is replaced as the Prez. I get the feeling that the current USF administration is hoping to get upgraded into a better conference before they take out the loans for some monstrosity money pit of a stadium. A future USF admin might decide that we have waited long enough and pull the trigger on what ever we can afford at that time though.

The likelihood that we will have the conference $$ to build a Minnesota like stadium went out the window when the Big East was raided, gutted, and dissolved.

That may have been true in Brooksville, FL, but not in New Haven, CT.

What about water fountains?

The conference stuff is no where near finished. Also, right now it does not make financial sense regardless of how much money we're getting to build an OCS. Until someone can prove to me that, "paid" attendance or recruiting would improve with an OCS, I'm willing to wait for it to be done right.

This might have already been addressed, but I'm going to be lazy and not look through 5 pages and 80 something posts; why in the hell do you guys want to build a cheap OCS?????

USF needs to build a first class OCS, PERIOD!!

It will help us with the "commuter school" tag, that I don't agree with, that outsiders have placed on USF.

I also think it will change the way alumni and current students look at the program, but the last thing we need is a cheap OCS, like that clown college to the east.
