Couldnt Bobby request a medical redshirt?

Yes, you can request a medical if a kid does not play in more than 4 games and if he is not available to return for season.

There is a bit more to the rule:

A player can compete in 30 percent of a team's games – instead of 20 percent – in the first half of the season and still be eligible for a medical hardship waiver.

IF Bobby was your second best qb all along, why attempt to redshirt him?

It's not very hard guys...

Teams do it all the time.

It's all about winning. Right or wrong Holtz felt we had our best chance with Eveld.

Teams may do it all the time, but chances are their 2nd and 3rd string are better than ours. You didn't give a good reason to explain the major f-up our staff did here, and I'm mostly talking about psyches. How do you string a QB along all year as #2, but then when #1 goes down, he's suddenly not good enough to be #2? You go with a guy that hadn't seen the field all year ... ?

Now the guy that hadn't seen time on the field all year burned his redshirt, is injured, and all that time you saved up for him to give him an extra year of eligibility - poof! It's gone.

I'm chalking Floyd's first INT up as a confidence-lacking one. Once he completed a few passes, he started gaining it, but no thanks to the coaches. Will be interesting to see how he develops from here on out.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
