We HOST Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday at 7!

I was definitely shocked for this, but excited to make another run!

I was expecting to get in, but didn't think we would host a match.

For what it's worth. Our best win of the year was a 3-0 match against FGCU. If we were to make it through the round, we would face Tulsa who we beat 2-1 earlier in the year.

Is the Big East really that good in soccer that we couldn't make the conf tourney but host an NCAA??

Yes. The conference is about as good in soccer as it is in basketball.

There's 8 Big East teams in the tournament.

That means that one of the teams that made the BE tourney didn't make the NCAA's, right?

Actually, 3 teams didn't make it. Our RPI was very strong. We had wins against multiple NCAA Tournament teams, too.

Michigan, FGCU, Tulsa, St Johns, and SMU. We also tied several tournament teams.

USF (8-5-4), which was ranked as high as No. 2 in the NSCAA poll, was an at-large selection and will host Florida Gulf Coast in the first round on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. The winner will face Tulsa in the second round. The Bulls are led by Leston Paul (3g, 6a) and Robert Alterio (5g,1a). Five of the Bulls' last eight matches were against opponents whose RPI was in the top 43 in the country. In total, USF played nine of the top 43 teams in RPI. The trip to the NCAA Championship is USF’s sixth in a row, with the Bulls reaching the quarterfinals last year before losing by a goal in overtime.

Even though I'm a soccer hater, that's pretty impressive to see us back into the tourney despite not qualifying for the conference tourney (I guess SOS does pay off). This could be a blessing in disguise. The guys could very well have fresh legs and could make a nice run. Good luck Bulls!
