Can someone explain what happened, from where I was sitting, it looked like he muffed the punt and we picked it up for a td. I thought it was a live ball if they muff. Or is it down where ever we recover it?

Either way, would have liked to see a td vs a fg.

In college, if the punt returner never has possession, it is a muff and not a fumble, and it is down wherever it is recovered if the kicking team gets it. In the NFL, there is no such distinction, and it's a live ball. Had the returner gotten possession then lost it, it would have been a fumble and a live ball. I thought it was the right call by the refs.

O ok. I was thinking NFL rules then. It was hard to hear from the student section.

Same rule in NFL actually. A muff can't be returned. From my angle, it looked like he had it and made a move, which would have been a fumble. I was wrong seeing a replay on TV.

Yeah, this is true, I thought they had different rules but just looked it up.

The TD was negated by a roughing the kicker penalty.

Are you serious? No penalty was called

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
