hopkins has world class speed though. short won't matter if he's so far behind the defense they can't get their arms up (assuming the QB gets the throw accurate). i saw him in the spring game two years ago - always thought he would be a more dangerous lamar if he came around.

Rivals (i know, not the most reliable) only had him running a 4.5 in highschool. Thats fast but not world class speed. Has he been doing track as well or anything?

He's bee a star on USF track.

Hopkins and Lamar both have LEGITIMATE 4.3 speed, based on HS and College track results.

But can he run routes or, more importantly, catch the ball? I'm sure the answer is yes, but I'm wondering why he's barely seen the field the last couple years but is a starter in week one over a senior in Victor Marc, or a more proven commodity in Welch?

deters has a pretty good point, maybe it's because of the opponent.

I assume he's made progress as a WR and gotten a lot stronger to take the pounding. If he can just get open, nobody will catch him.

With Hopkins, its probably not a matter of catching the ball, but rather getting jammed at the line.

This too, good point.

Holtz said it was due to Eatmon being out due to concussion symptoms past few practices. Said Eatmon is cleared and both tackles will play in the game. Good competition between the two.

There is already a depth chart thread with this questions and others discussed.

Thanks for the information, but this one appears to be the more relevant one at this time. I don't see any other depth chart threads on page 1 of the main forum at the moment.
