War Flamingo was a joke post but apparently some of you are quite passionate against it. May I ask why? Is it that you are too cool for such a childish "gimmick"? Inquiring minds want to know.

Come on, compare an eagle with a flamingo and tell me which one is more worthy of being a mascot for a football team. :D

It was great for the Auburn game, and a great joke henceforth, but to speak of it being a tradition smacks of a not-so-subtle Florida-ized version of Auburn's tradition. Just not something I would want to associate with USF for the rest of my life.

Partially toungue in cheek. I haven't ever seen such passion towards a "Joke Gimmick".

I have ... Me towards "Tamplona".

war **** flamingo, roll bull tide.....uhhh. lol

most people know the flamingo and tamplona stuff is gimmick and will never stick, even though some schools have traditions that did start out very gimmicky.

the third-down-lock-down actually has some merit to it.

east side: "hooves down!"

west side: "horns up!"

students: "that's the way we like to, wait, what?"

Third Down Lock Down is kind of catchy.

Tradition Runs Deep at South Florida

It is one of the most iconic moments in all of college football: A capacity crowd of nearly 67 thousand at USF's Raymond James Stadium standing and cheering as a live flamingo soars over the field and “War Flamingo*†is hammered out by the USF Marching Band.

But for newcomers to BE football, the “War Flamingo†phenomenon can also be rather confusing.

Besides, some might ask, aren’t USF teams called the Bulls?

* USF's fight song.

I bring this up every year the Bulls were almost A:Buccaneers or B: the Chickens. Flamingo is just one of those odd ball things that happened and now is growing from gimmick to well IDK? But it comes up every year on the board so Go War Flamingo!
