TAMPA - The 2012 college football season is approaching fast and USF fans will have a chance to really start getting revved up for the action Tuesday.

The Big East Football Summer Kickoff (media day) gets started at 8:55 a.m. in Newport, R.I., and you can follow the whole event for free online at www.bigeast.org or through your mobile/tablet applications at www.bigeastmobile.com. #BEMediaDay is the official hashtag for the event on Twitter and Instagram, and fans can use the hashtag to submit questions for head coaches and players.

Big East media day is the first place fans can access the conference's preseason media poll along with watching coaches and players talk about the upcoming season. USF head coach Skip Holtz is scheduled to take the podium at 11:30 a.m. Quarterback B.J. Daniels, tight end Evan Landi, cornerback Kayvon Webster and linebacker Sam Barrington will be doing interviews with the Big East throughout the day.

Greetings from Newport: Landi embracing senior role

NEWPORT, R.I. -- Greetings from Rhode Island, where the Big East hosts its annual preseason football media gathering, starting with tonight's big clambake at the Eisenhower House.

Tomorrow's Times previews the big day with a feature on tight end Evan Landi, one of four seniors representing the Bulls here in Newport and part of a huge senior class loaded with experienced leaders.

We'll have updates from the clambake later -- can anyone in USF's party uphold the high lobster expectations set last year by Jeremiah Warren? Those answers and more are coming, with tons of notes tomorrow as well.
