Eric Mayes and recent recruits have realy helped my hopes after the dismal last two years. There is hope in our future. It will be a lifelong memory for these recruits and how the program turned around.

His wingspan is sick and wraps up well. Also is able to hold his ground and looks like he can add a lot of weight without losing a step, Which also looks very deceiving and think he actually has very good speed but just a very long stride. Great commit, hope he stays that way!

TlGERBLOOD Posted February 3, 2013 Group: Member Topic Count: 0 Content Count: 3 Reputation: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 02/03/2013 Share Posted February 3, 2013 Recruiting brunch wrapped up this morning. Staff reports that Mayes was blown away by the facilities, and what the team has to offer. Coaches apparently pulled out all the stops, after having another DE recruit decommit on Saturday. Mayes fully expected to make announcement some time before Wednesday.

He then recruited his friend Derrick Calloway who committed the following day. If he flips to MIZZOU it sucks but he is also a candidate to get shot down by the Academic Committee here at USF. But he made his announcement 2 weeks ago...

TlGERBLOOD Posted February 3, 2013 Group: Member Topic Count: 0 Content Count: 3 Reputation: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 02/03/2013 Share Posted February 3, 2013 The consensus among national pundits is that the commitment is a soft verbal at best. Mayes expressed that it would be between USF & Mizzou, and that the final decision would not come until after visiting each campus. Mizzou's coaching staff coordinated moving Mayes' visit to the final weekend of the recruiting season, which would benefit bothe parties. Mayes would have the opportunity to see Miss St. on the 25th, the final weekend it was hosting visitors. He would also have the opportunity to spend this weekend with the Mizzou organization, while it was celebrating two of its former defensive ends playing in the Super Bowl. To which there really is no recruiting equivalent. Derrick Calloway's decision came as a result of Willie Taggart making a visit to his alma mater, and showing Derrick the legacy he could continue on for Manatee. I know Mizzou in a boring place to live, but geesh. Mayes can make his choice, but hopefully these kids remember who committed to them when others ignored them...as they can expect the same treatment post NSD.
