  1. Thanks WWMJD, I figured there was something more to it. He's def not a burner but the kid has great footwork and vision, plus he always keeps his feet churning and plays with aggression. I bet we hear his name again sometime in the future if he can keep everything together. That's one of the sad facts for a ton of great Florida players and most people will never even see some of the best talent this state produces because of grades or off the field problems. Some of the best players I ever played against fall in that category and basically become "The Goat's" of Florida football, or in one case "Gator". Would have loved to see him play college ball. The crazy thing is that doesn't even include the south Florida tackle football players that drop out in middle school. What could've been!
  2. Why aren't we hearing more about this kid? After watching his film I just can't understand why he isn't getting more attention and offers. Hopefully USF goes after him as I think he could be a great catch and heir to Mack. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1438862/highlights/174906376
  3. Sheriff, I hear where you're coming from(IMO Mike White was a better prospect than O'Korn in HS but UH had JO prepared and he stepped up/Think MW will show his pedigree this season though)and think you make some valid points(Although our D was top 25 last year and the only reason we ever won games as well as kept most from being blowouts). I just think at this point we need to try and take any positives(B-ball recruiting like we've never seen before/best Football class signed since 2009) we can toward our future since at this point I think we're all in(hope we have a decent hand and poker face/strong AD)! B/c, If we don't remain relevant we might as well revert back to trying to be the "Harvard of the South"..
  4. I'm glad we are using a search firm. It makes perfect business sense as that is what they do for a living. Plus it allows us to stay away from overvaluing some possible candidates that might have personal ties to our AD dept and give us an outsiders perspective. Obviously we have the final say as to who we hire. At this point the last thing we should be worrying about is spending an extra 100k to hire the best possible candidate. Even if we have to pay them more than we'd prefer. If we win, it will pay for itself and then some. In addition to increasing our opportunities to be considered for realignment, which would increase our entire athletic budget by at least 30%.
  5. Although I hope we land Lawson, Ryan Stanley out of Flanagan is a solid player and really like his film. He has great footwork and reads the field well.
  6. Agree 100% CK. That's why I think how he responded to the situation is proof that he realized he made some mistakes and wanted to show how he matured since his inappropriate behavior. The kid was 17 yrs old and made some stupid comments on a social media platform before thinking about how it may be perceived. Which was evident by him texting his apologies instead of contacting the coach directly to clear the air, which is an obvious sign of immaturity although he had good intentions.
  7. I know everyone hates the Gators but I know most of you remember the 1996 team that had three studs at RB with Fred Taylor, Terry Jackson and Elijah WIlliams. That ended up working out and was very effective as each had certain strengths and the same is true with our current RB's. Another huge plus is both Mack and Johnson are great out of the backfield and should help add another dimension to our offense. I was looking at McCray's highlights the other day and it got me thinking if there might be a possibility that he adds some more bulk(maybe why he was redshirted?)and plays FB, considering he did in High School. Imagine some of the backfields we could lineup with, Mack/McCray/Swanson, Johnson/Tice/McCray, McCants/McCray/Swanson, Tice/McCray/Swanson, and so on!
  8. Glad to see you back CK! I've been waiting for your unbiased professional opinion in regards to our recruits. When you get a chance I'd love to hear what you think about some of the kids we just signed. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised as CWT and Co. have an eye for talent IMO. I agree about everyone writing him off already. As for his personal life, I'm not very familiar with it but I still think he is nowhere near some of the other problem players/recruits we have all seen/heard of over the years, Willie Williams!!
  9. My question is, does his current behavior warrant any acknowledgement of the possibility that he has learned from his previous mistakes(another chance)? By letting his actions speak for them-self by not communicating with the media in regards to his recruitment status as well as closing all of his social media accounts. I would think that is a pretty big deal considering this could possibly be the biggest moment of his life in terms of achievements and notoriety. I think that shows humility, which is a good sign of growth in terms of maturity and a lesson we all have to learn at some point in life. Look at all of the drama that some of the other recruits put fans, coaches and media through just for attention. It seems like he realized his mistake and is trying to correct the situation. Is it enough? What else could he do to show that he has learned from his past mistakes? Are immature comments made by a 17 yr old really so bad that their actions cannot be redeemed?
  10. I really like this move by CWT, bringing in another former D-1A coach and now having 4 coaches who have been a head coach at a D-1 school with all of them having a specific position that they thrive at coaching. Also Wulff has coached at the highest levels in both college and NFL which should translate well in terms of players being prepared properly and in the right positions to succeed. With his OL background he should be able to get more out of a veteran OL group that returns and fix any technique or assignment issues. Also I thought I read somewhere that CWT is somewhat of a QB coach by default with his background as a college QB, being the OC and calling the plays allows him to have more influence on the position. So he should be able to hire a great recruiter and not have to spend too much on their salary. Also I like the comment in the article about Wulff being a hard worker which usually equates to success in recruiting and should be another plus. I can't say this is the best all around coaching staff we have ever had since the season hasn't played out yet but on paper it seems like it is by far the most talented/experienced coaching staff as a whole we have ever had. I think the NFL connections are also a plus as that is something we can sell to recruits and how we can help prepare them for the next level as well as help them get noticed.
  11. I really like this kids film and think he's a must get if we can land him. With his size, speed and athleticism he could be a great player for us either as an OLB or WDE, he really has a nose for finding the ball carrier. Who knows maybe Coach Bres implements different packages next year and utilizes our athletes more to play fast like he's been alluding to. We're going to be loaded with athletes on the defensive side of the ball next year and that should help against some of the offenses we'll face in our conference. Also, I remember hearing that recruiting analysts have said that Juwan Brown is too slow to play OLB and Bayes obviously needs to bulk up, so technically we don't have any OLB's, since Bayes could also end up somewhere else? If you look at our roster all of our OLB are really lite for that position and Black would be a good sized Sam LB w/ the potential to be a down lineman if necessary.
  12. Thanks Hem, that's basically what I was wondering b/c the kid is a legit D-1 QB and with his skill and size should land him somewhere even if it's a sunbelt or MAC school. Just didn't understand why there wasn't any news on him lately with signing day so close. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear his name again in regards to being a potential transfer down the road? I don't know how the coaching staff feels about him and maybe there's no way in hell they will ever look at him again but I wouldn't be surprised to see something like that happen. Especially since we really need QB depth as most recruiting analysts have pointed out and has put us in a bad situation by not having 4 scholarship QB's always on roster(no former walk-ons or transfers, QB's that were recruited by us). Although we've had bad luck the past 3-4 years landing our top QB targets, so its not like we weren't targeting them. I really like the prospects of Mike White and pray Q. Flowers stays committed as he could be a very dynamic play-maker for us and always be one play away from starting. If we have to rely on any of our current backups we are in for a long season(Eveld, Floyd, Bench)!!! Also 2015 is looking like it should produce some quality QB's that we have a legit shot at landing, hopefully D. Lawson.
  13. I'm not too familiar with the whole twitter bashing story but I do remember Stanley Clerveaux getting upset and making some comments. Although I know his were reasonable since it was from miss-communication between the coaches and player. Personally I'd be OK with us moving on in regards to any twitter comments since it has been responsible for a lot of players(both NFL and college)getting into trouble with their respective teams or fans. I wouldn't offer a schollie though but I'd def have a sit down with him and get everything settled before I would even allow him to walk on. They are teenage kids after all and no one is perfect. This late in the game I would've thought Litton would be already committed to a school but since he has not it makes me wonder what is going on there since he is a talented QB and you have to figure some team would take a chance on him. That's why I figured the only way USF would is if he walked on and showed the coaches his attitude has changed as well as maturity level. As for him signing with FIU or FAU, I believe both schools have their QB's already and seriously doubt he has an LSU offer. I just think its really odd that we haven't heard anything about him or the schools that are pursuing him since he does have D-1 talent and size. I think he might have to end up walking on to a school or going the JUCO route if his recruiting doesn't pick up soon since most schools are almost full and have their QB's committed.
  14. I've noticed that Chase Litton hasn't committed to any other schools yet, which makes me wonder if he might still be a possibility but as a walk-on and fill our other QB spot? I do not have any inside info but thought it might make sense considering his situation(attitude prob, local recruit, former commit, quality player), although it would be a risk vs reward situation and he'd def have to be on a short leash. I know people are not fond of him or his antics but think it might be worth a shot if he was willing to try and play for a schollie and show he has his violation together. I know its not an identical situation but remember doing something similar with Kloss after he got into trouble in high school. Look at how that played out as he'll end up being one of our best kickers ever and we've produced a few NFL caliber PK's in our brief history. Just curious if anyone has heard anything in regards to his situation or if the walk-on scenario is a possibility. If that is the case would he be worth the risk?
  15. Check out this past weekends highlights of Miami Jackson's game vs. Cardinal Gibbons. http://sfhighschoolsports.com/videogallery/c-gibbons-vs-jackson/ BTW this site has some great content and does an amazing job with their videos of each weeks top games in Dade and Broward County High School Football. What I thought was interesting is I don't think a lot of us are even taking into consideration that Wanky is playing both ways and is the core of this team with everything falling on his shoulders a la BJ Daniels. Although he does have some very talented players around him feeding off of his athleticism. You have to wonder how much it takes away from him being 100% at QB each series. Also from the video it seems like when he's playing Safety he doesn't know the alignments/assignments and makes plays using his natural instincts. Since he seems confused sometimes as to where he's supposed to be but when the ball is snapped he is flying around to make a play. One other observation I noticed was the difference in size between Gibbons and Jackson. A friend of mine was telling me that all the Dade schools are small but incredibly fast whereas the Broward schools are usually a lot larger as a whole and dominate along the line. It's hard to tell how big these kids really are when watching these videos but I remember Booker T looking very small, although they probably are the fastest team in the country. The only Dade school that looks like a more traditional football team to me is Central. Does anyone know of any sites that does something similar to this but with the Tampa metro area? Or other metro areas of Florida? I'd really appreciate it as I'd love to see what our Tampa Dream Team is doing under the Friday night lights!
  16. Not really sure where the conversation is now but in response to previous Florida players that went to Oregon the first 2 that came to mind were Lagarrette Blount and Ryan Gilliam(sp?) with the latter transferring back home to play for us. Although if there is a school that I think is in a position to dominate and be another Bama in terms of being able to recruit all over the US I could totally see why kids would want to go to Oregon. They receive an unlimited amount of the newest Nike gear available, top notch facilities, run an offense that will get you recognized if your a skill position player and probably their most important factor being Oregon's laxed laws with Mary J. I really don't see them ever being able to dominate like a Bama or other major SEC school but they are already dominating their conference for the most part as it is a lot easier to get someone into Oregon compared to a majority of the universities in Cali. The team/coach I'm more worried about cherry picking from us is Dumb U/Liar Meyer. I can't stand that school and am so tired of having to listen to all of the Bigten/OSU homers on ESPN talk about how great the teams are in that conference and on par with the SEC.
  17. Thanks Vega, I appreciate your very thorough breakdown in regards to my questions.
  18. "THE COOP" represent!! What year did you graduate? Have a lot of friends that graduated in '95/'96.
  19. Hey Vega, I was wondering what your thoughts are in regards to how well our B-ball program(coaches, facilities, current/future talent and the promise of a new and exciting style of play)stacks up compared to UCF's currently? Do we have any distinct advantages that differentiate us from the others(UM/UCF), that could be used to entice the local talent to stay home and be Bulls? From what it sounds like it seems like Orlando is the recruiting hotbed in terms of Florida's elite basketball players, so is it possible we could benefit from some of our former players turned coaches in that area? Also I remember UCF's coach having some problems with recruiting violations in the past and was curious if you think he might be up to no good again after these current verbal commits? Sorry for so many questions but I know you know the in's and out's of college basketball and was wondering if recruiting violations are even more rampant and widespread than in football? I appreciate any insight as I'm really looking forward to this season with hopes of seeing another magical run like we had 2 years ago.
  20. 206, I think your right after reading both of his comments I could see how he could get confused and think they were backing off if they did make a comment like that. Which I could see them saying if they said that to Ingram and then told Ellison to worry about his grades. Seems like they want to see the WR's they're looking at perform and finish any hiccups that might stop them from being apart of this class first before accepting a commitment. I think the WR's we're targeting are solid but none are on Bronson's or Holland's level. Young and Lee both look solid as well.
  21. Ok, thanks! I figured that was what they were talking about but I didn't know you could take that after you graduated from high school? If that's the case I wonder why other players don't do that instead of going the JUCO route when they can't get the qualifying SAT/ACT scores?
  22. This is awesome, its obviously that time of the year(no sports worth watching, no real info in regards to the football program)but its funny b/c its like there is more testosterone in the air or I guess you could call this a guys version of PMS! Mike we appreciate your insights!
  23. What is the entrance exam? Is that something new that they've added to the application process?
  24. Thanks BullBaller. So if Rudd was allowed to play his true position could we expect great things from him(Dojo esque?)and this team? It seems like he has shown us his big play ability although it wasn't consistent enough and makes me wonder if that was all on him or more so our in ability to have a big man down low? Also it seemed like AC really stepped up on his offensive game last year and could we expect an even bigger roll for him going forward or is that asking to much from him and taking away his other strengths?
  25. I'm not a basketball expert but wasn't VIctor Rudd playing out of position the last two years as well as a few other players, which could of been the reason for our slow offensive play style? Also isn't Rudd a true SF and if so wouldn't he be a nightmare match up for us against opposing teams especially with a healthy AC to let him run the floor instead of worrying about getting rebounds? I think we have some solid players coming back with Rudd, AC, Martino, Leday and Hawkins. With the only need being a couple of bigs which we have two solid ones coming in with Perry and Egbunu. Also is Clayton another option to play in the post since he seems pretty solid at 6'6 245 and I remember reading about his post game being one of his strengths, so would he be another possible option at PF?
