  1. Would hate to lose this kid, he seems like he has a lot of upside and could play right away. The DE's I have really liked all have gone elsewhere with Gaither DE Suttles(sp?) who looked ready to play as a Frosh and Malik Brown who I hope changes his mind after watching an interview. He seems like a team player, good attitude, well spoken and has talent to play right away. What shocks me is that no one is talking about our lack of depth at LB. We have none and two of our starters are the size of BCS SS's, I'm hoping with an NFL caliber coaching staff on D they'll be able to reevaluate our players and put them at their correct position. Otherwise they'll have to be very creative although we are loaded with talented athletes that could play multiple positions so its not out of the question. What really shocks me is how we have to tell kids no b/c of our academic committee but then they get accepted by other BCS schools? I know our graduate program's are top notch but I'd think we are on par with most BCS schools in terms of acceptance for undergrad. What gives?
  2. After watching film of Blakely yesterday I couldn't help but notice how much Woulard reminds me of the Bradenton QB #10(Barnes?) that committed to us and then signed with Nebraska. So far I haven't heard of him doing anything great and the more I learn about White the more I think he is all we'll need. Since he fits our new system better and we all know next year will have it's growing pains so it's not like we'll be expecting him to win games for us like BJ had to. Also think Eveld fits CWT's system perfectly and could do some damage with his game experience and skill set. Floyd to me is more of our old offensive scheme and might be the odd man out but who knows maybe he works hard at fixing his weaknesses and adapts his game. All in all I think we'll be fine with what we have and our main concern was RB but feel we'll be fine there as well with the talent we have and McCray. Hopefully we land Tice or JoJo to give us some more options. I'm kind of shocked we didn't focus on LB more so with all the talent we lost and what we have right now are all projects and WAY to light to play BCS caliber football except for Dede. Hearns looks like he could play right away though and Whitehurst and Cliett are solid players but still need to add some weight. If our DL plays the way they're capable of it will all come together b/c opposing teams shouldn't even have a chance to throw the ball and we are pretty solid at OL, TE and WR. So we should be at least competitive next year.
  3. I really hope we land this kid. The only reason I could see other schools backing off besides grades would be his unorthodox-ed running style. Also remember the RB FSU picked up from Miami Central a couple of years ago that was second string and no one knew who he was but turned out to be a stud/Starter(as a frosh I think?). With how much talent there is in SFLA it's easy to miss on a talented player b/c there are so many especially if he only played as a Sr. people wouldn't know much about him and if they did it would be late in the game. From the video I saw he has no problem moving piles and large ones at that or running over players even though he's standing straight up. Anyone that starts at RB for Miami NW is going to be a player, usually the knocks are grades or size. Obviously Tommy Tuberville saw something he liked if he's going after him as well.
  4. This kid is a solid get and something we need very much. I can see him contributing as a true Frosh. He has the size, speed, hands and is very physical, plus is a great man to man cover corner. He is a true corner but has that athleticism you always want in a great corner(D.Sanders, M.Jenkins, P.Peterson) and can utilize him on special teams if necessary. I'm a lot happier now knowing we have him in the stable as we are going to need our DB's to really step it up if we want to turn some heads this year. We have all the talent we need for our front 7 but it will all come down to how our DB's can play together and if we have some that are talented enough to leave out on an island by them self. After hearing his other reason for signing was our coaching it really makes me like this kid even more b/c he knows how talented he is and wants to get the best teaching to get to the next level.
  5. This kid reminds me of a young JPP, hopefully he stays for at least three years. His wingspan is sick and wraps up well. Also is able to hold his ground and looks like he can add a lot of weight without losing a step, Which also looks very deceiving and think he actually has very good speed but just a very long stride. Great commit, hope he stays that way!
  6. I think it would be a very smart move on his part as he could prove himself to NFL scouts and show he can play against BCS caliber competition. We still have UofL, Cincy, Rutgers and UCF should be pretty good. Plus I would think we have a much better OL than WKU did and that should only make things easier for him. If he does come here it would be a smooth transition for him as well as us and really give us an opportunity to have a decent season. With our additions to our defensive coaching staff I really believe they can FINALLY get the most out of are superior athletes and really dominate. No reason our DL shouldn't be able to put enough pressure against our opponents QB's allowing us to make up for our secondary. Although our safeties are solid and we have talent at corner so maybe we can coach them up. With Aaron Lynch(kid's a beast), Giddins, Mims, Lee, JuJu, Kino, Chandler, Luke, Hamilton and I have my fingers crossed for Sneat as that kid looks like a beast on the inside(something we have lacked) we will be able to have fresh legs out there and not have any drop off. They should be blowing up opposing OL's and confusing them with so many different strengths each player possess and then utilizing stunts plus great blitzing techniques(blitzing to QB's blind side, drop an athletic DE into coverage, use our players length and knock down passes) we should really through a monkey wrench into their blocking schemes, oh and did I mention Aaron Lynch(can't wait to see that kid suit up!)! The big question mark is QB but the great thing with CWT's O is that they aren't asked to do too much and I think that plays to Eveld's strengths and Floyd's as well. I just can't wait to see a running game as it has just been horrendous to watch not to mention the fact that teams knew what plays we were calling since we never switched things up and didn't have any creativity in terms of play calling. It will really open up the play action pass and with an elite TE in Price he could really have a break out year and then having a huge target in D'Vo on one side and then the Freak Show on the other all I can say is watch out! But I think we have two solid backs in Shaw and Pierre and wouldn't be surprised if we saw big things from both of them this year as well as Battles. I don't know what Battles deal has been but he has the talent, size and speed to really be something special, I just hope he gets it together. I still would like to see Jojo Kemp sign with us but know that is probably no going to happen. Good thing is if we do get Andrews it will give CWT another yr to recruit a solid RB and in Florida there are a ton of elite backs every yr and all of them want to play as a true frosh. Good thing is the flip side on that is that RB is probably one of the easiest positions to transition to right away from high school to college when you are an elite back.
  7. After watching that it really made me reevaluate his potential. I've been a supporter of BJ from the beginning but I didn't want that to change my perception on whether he was NFL caliber or not. I believe he is worth drafting only if you are a creative mind offensively or someone like Belichik who can take his strengths and utilize them. It's not like he isn't capable of running a play, it's more like our O as a whole wasn't sufficient enough to run a play and basically asked BJ to win it for us. He has a build that can be successful at the next level at WR or RB/Slot especially in an O like the Patriots(Edelman). He has great lateral movement and natural running ability to see plays develop. In addition he has a very strong arm(can make all the throws), although he lacks the ability to throw a touch pass(can easily be learned). As for the deep ball just watch this video again and look at how many TD's he throws where WR's are barely in bounds but he puts it only where they can make a play. I'm not saying he will be a QB but I'm also saying he can make more throws than a lot of other QB's that have been drafted, it really is up to who sees his talent and can harness it. I hate NE but I really hope he ends up there as I could see Belichik utilizing him the right way and giving us something to see for years to come.
  8. I just saw his film and he is a very solid back and would love to land him. I really like how he hits the holes, he makes a cut and then runs north/south. Which is very important in a RB, he also showed nice break away speed although that can sometimes be misleading against certain competition. If its similar to when I was playing Cocoa played some good traditional competition in the Daytona area so that should validate his top end speed. He also seems like he knows when to cut/juke/breakdown a player or run over them(making sure pad level is lower and momentum in his favor). I like Jojo but think Folston is the better APB although with CWT I can see him utilizing Jojo's strengths as a slot back or even running a wishbone. I think CWT(Harbaugh tree) gets it, you play to win and if that means you run the ball 50 times then so be it or starting a younger player over a vet b/c he gives you the best chance to win then thats what matters(team game). I've seen most of the top FL RB's on video and from what I've seen Collins is clear cut #1(flat out on another level nationwide) but Folston is a top 3 back in FL. I know Collins is not being realistic even though I think CWT would allow him to flourish here but think Folston would be the next best choice for us. I would love to see him and Jojo come in and push each other as well as allow us to run multiple packages and take advantage of our athletes. Something we haven't done and has really bothered me considering the athletic ability some of these kids we bring in have(Shaw prime ex.). As for all the conference realignment BS and playing for a NC, these kids shouldn't focus on something that is ultimately out of their control. Only two teams play for it every year out of 130(?) so do the math and you will realize it takes a lot more than one player or even playing in a great conference to get the opportunity to play in that game and statistically you probably never will. Your most important goal should be to improve yourself as a person both academically and athletically as well as putting yourself in a position where you are around people you can trust(home/family/childhood friends) to succeed. I really feel we are in a great situation with CWT and who/what he brings to the table. He knows Florida football and how passionate we are about it as well as the big traditional schools and their fast rise in the 80's(FSU/UM). Something we can easily achieve putting ourselves in a situation like UM and FSU did where we play anyone, anytime and they have to recognize us and take notice. That is what will put us on the map and in everyones discussions regardless of what conference we are in(Boise St is a great ex.).
  9. My ideal situation would be to hire Petrino as HC and then have WT as OC and head coach in waiting. This way we know there will be some consistency and maybe WT can learn a thing or two from Petrino. We all know he won't be here for long but would turn us into a legit team in no time. I'd then hire Mario C. as DC and let him work his Miami connects and use his passion on the sidelines to get our D hyped up like the D we came to love and know. Granted it might sound ridiculous but think about it in terms of Petrino stays for one or two years WT takes over a program ready to compete year in year out and hopefully we will be in a BIG conference before Petrino leaves(main reason in hiring him) and then let the young guys do their thing. I think that would be a winning combo and affordable if we put those stipulations in place. WKU isn't making a big conference anytime soon and WT isn't coaching a team in one anytime soon so bring in the big name and pay your dues for a year or two and inherit a program in the big leagues and the cupboards loaded! To me that would be ideal and if you think about it we have had success with hiring asst. coaches for cheap but to me it's the OC/DC that have made or braked us every yr. If that did happen we would be set! But it's wishful thinking, although you never know considering how much we could pay them considering the incentives we could add in their contract. WT- Head Coach in waiting and MC would become a high profile candidate(BCS school material).
  10. Funny how nobody mentioned the job he did at Louisville as well! He might be dreaming when it comes to a 65k stadium packed right now but maybe in 20 yrs who knows? Look at what we did in that amount of time! I don't think they'll ever get an invite to the BE but I think they have a lot of pro's being in the city they are and all the money that can help finance the program. Remeber donations for the most part are a write off and companies/Big headed exec.'s love to have buildings named after them which is where the financing will come in. They have a good TV market and very fertile recruiting area. In terms of academics they will be slacking but if they get the right university president and take advantage of networking with the local politicians who knows what can happen. It will be interesting to say the least, my biggest arguement is if Texas can have all these D-1 programs and Ohio than why can't Florida, especially with all the money and resources we have to offer besides a large metro area/TV market.
  11. Not saying he would be the best option but what about Larry Coker? Personally I would throw a sick amount of money at Charlie Strong and say take the reins the program is yours and let him recruit the crap out of Florida and get us into a conference that will be around. I know he has a sweet gig at UL but he isn't going to stay there and he would know the potential he would have here, even if it was just for a year or two. He would dominate from a coaching standpoint and recruiting and make UF look bad. Or find a way to get Gruden to stay here and give college a try and see how he can do molding these kids and if he still wants to do Monday night that would be ok too. I know someone said Bud Foster might be interested, I think he would be a great hire and just surround him with recruiters and a good OC(Calvin Mcgee)with him being the coach in waiting. We have way too many positives not to be able to attract a top notch coach. Our only thing is we will have to take a chance on one, maybe he has a previous history but we'll just have to put that behind us and think about being 2-10 or 10-2. All that being said if Holtz lights a fire under these guys(coaches included) he still has a chance to have a great year. Considering he could beat a legit top 5 team, who knows what Miami does but if they win they play a sick schedule where they would be ranked and if we win the rest of our conference games. I know that's asking for a miracle but I'm just saying if he did do that it would be insane and probably put us in the top 15 by the end of the year. Ball St., Rutgers and Nevada-Reno are all good teams with Rutgers being a very good team(20-25 ranking IMO). UN and Ball St could end up winning their conferences and would make these loses and poor play a little more understandable. It's still not exceptable but is something that can be corrected given the talent that is on this team and having so much of the season left to play. Right now I'm looking at it like this, if we beat FSU and Miami and tank the rest of the season I will be happy. To be honest the whole coaching thing is out of our hands and we can boycott all we want but all we're doing is hurting our team and making it worse, especially if we want to get into a big time conference. The people that are the big time donators are the ones they listen to and will make sure they are heard and are the only ones that can make a difference in terms of changes. So for now support the team b/c next year is going to be even worse as most of the underclassmen that can go pro will b/c they won't want to stay around and listen to any more crap. One positive is instate rivalries are always games that are hard to call b/c of kids wanting to make a point to the other school that didn't recruit them, plus they usually know each other or played against each other in HS. Enjoy the game this will be the last time we get a shot at the big three after Miami unless we end up against each other in a bowl game.
  12. Good point Ralph, it makes me wonder if these players are really buying into his system or just trying to coast by until they can go pro? Especially after hearing the comments on why the DB's didn't play. Then add in whomever you talked to but I would think if I was a player and knew anything and everything I said can be viral I'd probably not say anything about a practice the next day UNLESS I was upset about it? At the sametime it's not the reason they are playing bad, it has to do with the coaching one way or another. Either the players hate the coaching and are doing a Tyler Wilson or the coaches don't have a clue. Either way it doesn't work and something needs to be done. It's funny b/c when I was reading an article on BJ he was very talkative about getting into the FBI, more so than football and his up coming Sr. yr. Granted you can take that a lot of ways but to me it seems like he's going to play his heart out and then try to get into the FBI and its a done deal. Basically football is over with in his eyes and he's looking towards his future, which isn't a bad thing but made me think he knows this isn't going to be a good year? Who knows, just the vibe I got from it.
  13. He's the last person to blame the game on! He was literally playing with no offensive line the whole game. I even had a friend make a comment about it and if we were meaning to do that? It's sad that he makes plays with 3-4 guys in his face or chasing him and people will complain about his performance. I can only imagine if we actually blocked someone and gave him a pocket to throw in. On top of that he almost had 300 yds passing and 100yds rushing in a game. Look that up and see how many people have done that EVER. To blame him is crazy! It's a team sport and we are lucky we have him otherwise we would have a tall stick figure getting sacked every play! The kid is going to break the BE record for most yds ever and he is the problem. Wins or losses look at the company he is in, I wouldn't hear any of those coaches saying they wished they had a different player! Look at Dan Marino broke every passing record there is but also the ones people don't like to talk about but he's still a hall of fame QB! This goes way beyond BJ and we are lucky to have him otherwise it would be a lot worse!
  14. I would understand if we were young but we aren't and it's sad b/c it's only going to get worse! If I was Cosh I would just blitz like crazy but from different places each time b/c if he doesn't change something he will def be the first to go! Obviously KState is still doing great and actually better than when he was there so maybe we should throw a lot of dough at Bill Snyder and throw in a retirement package?
  15. As for a suggestion to be honest anyone would be better than right now. With all the Florida talent we have we are by far superior to any of these other NON-AQS schools. You could honestly just say go play football and they would give you the same result we have now or maybe even better? But seriously if I was Skip I would be asking Dr.Lou if he could retire from ESPN and come help me out. He needs it and is looking even worse with the whole BE feud with ESPN and they are only going to make us look worse if we keep losing like that. Dr. Lou, you should know family is more important than that extra cash you're making right now. You don't need it, come help your son out and sign on as a special asst. or something. Funny thing is I was trying to think of who else has come from Dr. Lou's coaching tree and can't think of any that were really successful? Could be missing someone but if that is true that means he really knows how to be a true Head Coach!
  16. Sorry for all you married folk but look at the positives, at least there will be a lot of hot pieces of tail runing around this weekend and IMO probably the easiest of them all! It's all what you make it! Great way to get your frustration out.
  17. After watching his Youtube video's he's the real deal in my opinion and is the only other WR besides Coley I would offer if I was USF. Hopefully these WR's know the talented QB we have coming in that will give our talented WR's the first chance to dominate a game. We have always had talented WR's at USF but our problem is when you have a shorter QB you have to create lanes for him to throw and is something we have never been able to fully offer BJ. I'm not knocking BJ I think he is the best athlete we have ever had at our school but football is a team sport and it takes a team to win week in and week out. Ashantii will offer this to our talendted WR's and TE's(stacked at both) and show Teddy Heisman what a real QB looks like. Everytime I look at him I hope for the best being a Miami prospect but he's nowhere near Woulard in terms of physical stature and once Ashiantii comes here and utilizes the talent around him will have the same heisman talk going on, probably more being a big metro and Football mecca, TB loves winners and will gather around this kid like he is Joe Montana. Ashiantii is a QB that can take advantage of our speed angle something people have been preaching for years now and it is the truth. We do have some of the fastest WR's in the country but it doesn't matter if you can't get them the ball. Sorry about my Woulard rant but Adams reminds me of Andre Davis but adding a little more speed. He has hands like cobwebs and can go up and get the ball at it's highest point. Davis is physically better prepared right now for those kinds of catches but Adams seems to have a good football IQ after watching him break on the db's when he is running for a TD. He shows confidence and poise and lets the play develop which is important and seems to have the perfect combo opposite Davis to showcase something like the big D did back in the early 90's with Irvin and Harper and a few Jay Novachek's and Moose johnson's between all the talented TE's we have. Hopefully Jojo can be the great slot back that can succeed in the college ranks. You don't have to have a big punishing back in colllege if your QB can be that person and that is basically where Woulard's DT comes into play and will allow us to have a smaller back ala Tim Tebow w/ Rainey/Demps. It only works if you have that DTQB with all the inatngiables and is something we will be able to finally offer. The future is bright regardless with Woulard coming but if Adams comes it will just show how dominant we can be with all the right parts. The Cowboys are my prime example and they didn't even have a DTQB but they did have an amazing OL and RB but with a tall, poised QB you can offset those differences in college and make up for them. It's great to hear that he is better but I just hope he isn't pushing it and making everyone say he is allright when he isn't. I can only imagine how it feels with his talent but when you are talking about your heart that is something serious. Which honestly only makes my point that much stronger considering the health facilities we have in Tampa and the treatment he would get for free. Atleast here the Doc's won't care about your production but more about your recovery, since that is all that matters. Plus if everything works out look at the positives with an NFL coach in TB that cares about his players with Schiano and would be more than happy to take a chance on someone that might have health issues but is surrounded by their doc's. To me it's a no brainer with all the intangibles here in TB but which ever you choose I just hope your health is always solid and allows you to play to the best of your ability, good luck and I hope you choose USF.
  18. He's a game changer and one broken tackle away from a TD every time he runs. I was preaching about how we need to utilize the draw with his running abilities and it finally showed how effective he can be with his speed and quickness. If TRex can get it together he could be a great WR from what I saw today and the NFL loves true speedsters so he would have a great shot if he can put the whole package together. AD is still the same Chris Carter/Michael Irvin mold I expected and will go down as our greatest WR ever. Kid is a true WR and a dream target for the great QB's since he can run great fade routes and is a possession WR that isn't 5-10. I hope he stays all four years but highly doubt it and understand. I'm a Phins fan and for some reason it seems like our Bulls have the same curse, either we can run the ball great but have nobody that can throw or vice-versa. If we had a true 30 carries a game RB we would be able to do so much more with our offense but with our players being so situational it can also become very predictable. With all the talented RB's that come out of this state I don't understand how one of them would not be interested considering we are bringing in the right big boys to block and next year will have the #1 dual threat QB in the country, why not play for USF? Seems like UCiF has better luck with that than us even though they haven't had a decent QB since Daunte Culpepper was there.
  19. Agreed CK, BTW are you a Buffet Fan, if so that's the only band where the parking lot is as crazy as a big time college football game, always a good time! To me when I watch A.D. it looks like he knows his strengths and uses them well. He reminds me of a Chris Carter/Michael Irvin type of WR that runs good routes, trains hard, will do whatever it takes to make a play and especially has an uncanny ability to go up and come down with the ball. Physically his hands and leaping ability are off the charts and has a decent size frame to build around to become an NFL WR IMO. D'Vo, wish we could use Devo's song but I know people might reference it with negative conotations. Maybe they could just play the background keyboard and make up a new saying b/c I see him getting us a lot of first downs in the future! I also liked him the best after watching his film but you add in his size and he could be a force to be recokowned with. I know it's just a shoulder pads practice but did you notice the amount of room Kayvon gave him on that one catch? It could be a bunch of things, it's just practice and he wasn't taking it seriously but if you have played the position you know who you are covering and if its a good WR you'll give them a little more cushion if you know they could beat you. Which is interesting considering K.W. has top notch speed and can make up ground but gave him that much space(maybe he was playing zone but I don't think we'll not utilize his talent and not play him man as much as possible.). I know I could be looking into it too much but from a players POV, usually you especially do not want to get beat by any amount to a freshman, especially when you have NFL talent. Regardless I see K.W. being our next DB being drafted and continuing a great tradition of producing NFL DB's. I was just trying to point out a possible sign of respect in regards to D'vo's ability . Long story short it seems like from other players and coaches POV he is solid and will standout this year. The other one I'm really curious about is T. Mims and wonder if he might be our Claude Davis(3rd down pass specialist) this year but also has some size.
  20. Kid is a stud in my opinion and better than any back in Florida, I know those are big claims but he has shown his ELITE speed against the top classifications in South Florida which is good enough for me. His vision and lateral movement is so fluid and natural that even though he's new to the sport it's like he's been playing it his whole life(which is a typical attribute that comes naturally, most great runners don't think they react). Which would mean that his body should be healthy and no knee problems from years of pounding the rock! I know Broward football and this kid has it all with the size, speed, quickness, vision and hands to be our first RB to go after two yr's as a true Jr. In Broward or any of the three South Florida counties it is rare for a back to excel the way he has at the higher classifications. People say he has talent around him then I ask them where is that talent when he is running past these kids that can run true 4.5 40's and are D-1A material to boot, no where in his dust. When I made my first comment about comparing him to O'neal Saniford I was being serious and like I said those are hard shoes to fill but this kid has the potential and his head on straight(nobody tops Gator's toughness though). He would be smart to choose to play here with the talent we have already as well as coming in. At Miami someone else has already alluded to Storm Johnson and that is a true obstacle in his path and not something that will go away until he goes pro. Where as at USF he could start right away and be able to stay in state and go to a similar school as Miami but get away from all of the BS that can bring you down. Come to Tampa and you won't regret it, we offer everything MIami can and more including a chance to get away but still be close enough for friends and family to see you. As well as giving you the reigns to take this program to another level with Asiantii, since we aren't like those other Florida schools who will always try to find a successor for you every year even though we believe in you.Plus I know there is a Bulls Lacrosse fanatic on here that could help you down that path as the BE still does have a decent Lacrosse league! Wish you nothing but the best! Good luck this year and make sure not to take any chances as your future is bright way beyond High School ball.
  21. If your a top notch safety recruit in Florida I would seriously consider USF from the talent we have produced in our short time. That wouldn't even be the main reason as our safeties for the most part are Sr.'s and to me Mark Joyce is going to have a yr where he could possibly go pro. The kid is solid in all aspects of his game and a true Jr. but has the size to play at the next level. I was kind of shocked he wasn't starting last yr but I think with this yr's line up playing in the nickel will benefit our DB's strengths with Lejiste being a true SS and Jenkins being more of a ball hawk. Joyce is the one player that is versatile and can hit you like a LB or drop back in coverage like a FS. After them I'm not sure what we really have as they all are so young and unproven. Nate Allen is a great example of the product we have produced but to me JR Reed would have been the best of them all if he didn't have that unfortunate accident. The game he had against Memphis his Sr. yr I don't think I have ever heard of one player winning a game all by themself like that considering the positions he played.
  22. Couldn't have said it better Sheriff. I feel for the kid, any athlete that has to go through one major surgery let alone multiple knows how hard it is just to get through rehab alone, then its an uphill climb to try and get back to your playing level.
  23. I think it's handsdown UNLV, unless BYU changes their mind which I doubt b/c we would have to conceed to their wants. It is based primarily on three factors, one being they are a HUGE TV audience with no one to compete against in terms of professional teams. The second being they have the potential to be as big as any west coast school with their location, previous basketball achievements and follow the same pattern as current BE schools with being a large Metro school and I think their academics are somewhat sound? This third and biggest factor would be that in LV the thing that makes most college football games enjoyable to watch even if you don't know the teams is if you are betting on them! For the longest time LV has wanted a pro team in any sport but the gambling has kept them out, with this loophole we would potentially be offering up all of the East Coast schools where the gambling money is! I'm not saying its in our academic interest to make this change but it will bring about ten times more attention to all of our games on TV, which will be a bargaining chip for us when it comes in terms of a new TV contract. In my opinion if other institutions can screw us over for the mighty dollar than why can't we do what's in our best interest and only care about the financial situation a school can bring.
  24. Personally I think Lamar at 180lbs in our offense can be dangerous on any down. I've said it before but go back and watch his HS film, the kid loves running between the tackles and has the quickness/vision to play RB out of the shotgun on 1st-3rd down. It will allow us to open up the field and give our WR's better matchups and QB more space. The only question is his blocking ability but at that weight plus his heart he can easily learn how to hip check these DE's to give his QB more time. If its a DT then he'll have to play it cheap and take his legs out but to me that's not cheap but more expected/accepted than a 305lb OL doing that. From his films he thrives off of the draw play which would really open up our Offense allowing BJ to utilize the fake, running a bootleg or rolling out to make a pass. The great thing about it is the Safeties would have to respect Lamar's break away speed and somewhat stay home allowing for more space and if they don't then Lamar will run circles around the DL, LB and Saf. as he has the superior speed and quickness, with the DB's backpeddling and him running like a track star! I am curious to see MIke and hope he turns out well but I truly feel Lamar being a Sr. wants to go out on top and he knows he has the ability and isn't afraid to take a hit. He could have easily gained this weight last yr but I'm guessing he thought one more yr to test the waters(possible NFL potenial maybe?)and still run track but now it's showtime and he knows it. He isn't built like Noel Devine but look at what that kind of speed in a spread Offense can do and he could out run Noel, probably Rainey and be close to Demps who are all similar in size but Lamar would be in an offense that actually works with a RB that size. Being a local kid, staying home and busting his arse this offseason I'm hope everything comes through for him. I know its not a fairytale world we live in but even just seeing the Sr.'s and their growth this yr shows me how bad they want to make us all proud. I had high expectations last yr but not as high as this yr considering the large Sr. class and if they don't perform I know they tried their hardest to improve. In some cases like Lamar switched positions to one that he will never even get a blink at in the NFL! Sometimes we need to understand that these kids still have that dream to make it and some of them end up making changes that are for the better good(team) than themselves. I think this is the case with Lamar.
  25. Just curious Mr. Woulard did you help Asiantii with his development(were you a former QB)? For only one yr playing at that position I was shocked(in a good way)when I saw his highlight film and against quality opponents, I knew he was going to be a great QB but was curious if you or someonelse has been working w/ him during his down time? To win a competition like that it basically means you have all the tools and at the highest level, which would be the fastest progression of a player I have ever seen. I didn't think he looked that raw last yr and liked his footwork and touch he had throwing the ball. Especially his ability to keep the play alive but I guess that is more of a natural reaction when you are that athletically gifted. Also, if that is true about your son not liking the BE and prefering the SEC it is more than understandable but I would recommend really looking into it in terms of his strengths and weaknesses as the SEC has the best Defenses in the nation. It can be a lot for someone to take in(especially an 18yr old)with everyone expecting amazing results right away. Those Defenses can play man to a T which allows for more complex blitzing/coverage schemes(NFL caliber) that create uneven matchups that can cause havoc on a QB's psyche. The study sessions alone will be draining, let alone still trying to develop your game and go to school. Whereas in the BE you can pick apart a defense a lot easier running the spread with someone athletically gifted as AW is either through the air or on the ground(ex. Teddy Bridgewater, Geno Smith). The pro's of coming to USF would be the ability to develop his game at a reasonable pace, run an offense he is familiar with, surrounded himself w/ exceptional WR's(one being very familiar) and the expectations will not be high next yr as we know it will most likely be a rebuilding yr with all of the Sr. talent we lose. Plus the ability to play close to home in front of family in one of the top NFL stadiums is priceless. I know it comes off sounding biased being a USF alum/fan but I actually grew up watching SEC football and am a UF fan as well(hard not to be when your Grandparents lived there for 50 yrs, one teaching there and all their kids went there). I just don't want to see him end up like the two QB's UF recruited two yrs ago where both were in the top of their class and had to face last yrs Bama D. I was at that game and I felt bad for those kids as they had no chance against that D. They never really showed me anything the rest of the yr and who knows how that affected them mentally going forward. They basically were thrown to the wolves that game and I don't think either will ever rebound from it. In my opinion let him develop his game the right way and not rush into anything and be allowed the proper time to put together the whole package. Obviously our track record shows we are loyal to our QB's and allow them to develop instead of giving them one shot and then moving on to next yr's recruit. Also ask yourself where were these other schools before he won this competition? USF has shown it's character by standing by even when he wasn't sure and still stuck by him when he decided to come back and to me loyalty is a rare commodity these days especially in college football! Looking forward to him suiting up in the Green and Gold!
