http://beyondthebets.com/2012/06/06/big-east-point-spread-projections-louisville-the-favorite-in-college-footballs-mystery-conference/

College football season doesn’t kick off until Aug. 30, but some sportsbooks will begin releasing early point spreads in the coming weeks and months. Unfortunately, all of the games released—usually between 100 and 150, in all—will be matchups between marquee teams.

While it’s great for Alabama, Oregon and Oklahoma fans, those in Pullman, Wash., Ames, Iowa, and Boulder, Colo., have nothing to get excited about.

That’s where we come in.

We’ve projected point spreads for all 798 games (even the thrilling UTSA vs. Texas A&M-Commerce showdown in early September) and have also broken them up by conference for convenience. In addition, we’ve provided what the standings would look like if the projected favorite won every game*.

*Keep in mind: There are a handful of coin flip games that could go either way. Cincinnati, for instance, is a favorite of less than a touchdown five times. It wouldn’t take much for its “projected†record to drop from 6-1 to 3-4.

Quite obviously, projecting point spreads three months in advance is an imperfect process. You will likely spot inconsistencies or notice mistakes or disagree with some of the lines. If so, feel free to e-mail us at beyondthebets@gmail.com.

Exactly. You know someone is getting paid big bucks to come up with these numbers or at the very least for inputing the data into the computer that comes up with these numbers.

Is Temple this bad?

Better question:

Are Connecticut and Syracuse that bad?

Would love it if this team could go 5-2 in the Big East this season.

I really think this is our year. We have all the pieces in place to get the job done. I'm not sold on Louisville, Bridgewater is still young and they didn't have a great o-line last year. Their D will probly be great though. Rutgers is a toss up, there are so many questions there as well as a new coaching staff. Cinci will be the typically dangerous team they are, not sure if Munchie can lead them though, not very impressed with him. If Ray Graham is 100%, Pitt will be tough. All the others are awful and not really worth mentioning. I know it's a quick all over the place analysis, but I really think we have the least question marks on both sides of the ball, and coaches that will do quite well.

This is an interesting, worthless projection. I'm not sure how anyone ever handicaps the Big East, particularly point spreads an entire season in advance. The conference is usually a mess, albeit a very competitive mess.

Perhaps the motto of any would-be Big East champion should be "Avoid Sucking".
