Agree, but two potential factors: 1. Denson acts like Kirkland is tethered to him, so FSU has a shot. 2. Taggart no longer surprises me, so USF has a shot. Washington (Miami, Fla.) The Buzz: The race for Kirkland got interesting with the departure of Florida State Offensive Coordinator James Coley - who recruits Miami-Dade County and has a strong relationship with Kirkland. Coley - now at Miami - also played for Booker T. Washington head coach Tim "Ice" Harris. But Kirkland remains open and says he's 'not decided' just yet. Arkansas is the latest suitor - wooing Kirkland to an official last weekend. Don't count out a last-minute push by Jimbo Fisher - who is a consummate closer on cases like this. Where the Bulls stand: Quite frankly, this is a big question mark. Kirkland has been very vague about where he's leaning. His list is reportedly down to three - with USF, Miami and FSU. This would be a huge pick up for Willie Taggart and strengthen the offensive line almost immediately. Kirkland will be making his decision on signing day. Can he pull another coup? You have to love warchant. It's the only place where "almost no chance" is actually calculated as 45%. OFFENSIVE LINE Denver Kirkland 6-4/334 Miami, Fla. Booker T. Washington STATUS: Currently open TOP OFFERS: Miami, among others. What a difference a few weeks makes in the recruiting world. FSU was sitting in a good position when James Coley was at Florida State and now the trend has started to head down since Coley left. Despite his relationship with Ira Denson and FSU offensive line coach Rick Trickett, FSU has almost no chance to land him. That's my guess, but people said the same about Todd Chandler & Elkino Watson, 4 stars in Dade Co. But they signed with USF. I don't know if the impending sanctions sway the kids who grew up watching & loving the Canes, but it may nudge a few over the fence. I'd think UM would some closure on the topic, just so the unknown is killed. UM getting OC Coley is likely a boon, as well. We've scored some good OL this season, but he seems like he'd be a good add to our class. P.S. Good call on the funny FSU probability goof...guess the Garnett & Gold see 45% as "worst case".
