Just because someone evaluated him as #2 DE in area doesnt mean a whole lot. I think we are getting away form these guys that start out so small on the D Line. Granted he is a DE but 205 lbs, that is a lot add to a frame if you are going to play D Line at the major college level. I just dont think he fit what the coaches wanted.

FWIW, just read on Scout that Smith was offered a grey shirt. So, he won't be a part of this year's class. He'll count toward next year's. Similar to what Alex Mut did. This makes more sense, because it had been said that several times that the staff wasn't looking to take a DE this class unless it was someone elite.

I doubt that.

First, UCF does not appear to have offered him.

Second, Brad, apparenty, has agreed to be grey-shirted, up front.

Third, UCF has limited scholarships to give out, because of the NCAA penalties and doesn't have the luxury to bring in players like him who aren't ready to see the field right away.
