Any time I see someone start going on about how the coach needs to go WITHOUT naming someone who would be a good replacement, I have trouble considering the idea very well thought out

ps-- this comment not directed at anyone in this thread specifically

I think, according to you, this is Coach Heath's coming out this season.

Or was it last season?

We shall see where the team ends up at the end of the year.  Let's see if there is improvement over last year before we create expectations for next year.

I expected a lot out of the team this year with the way the team played well down the stretch last year, a full year under their belt in the new system, upgrades and experience at RB and I thought at WR plus, the coaching and system changes and graduations from some of the other schools such as UCONN, Pitt, WVU and even at Syracuse losing a lot of seniors.

Still a long way to go, but there was nothing wrong with the high expectations for this year.  Especially considering so many coaching changes in the conference.  Especially one as messy as WVU.  They didn't seem to miss a beat when they changed systems.

I do agree with giving Holtz more time.

Remember this is his 2nd year and most of the players (Sr's, Jr's, even RS Soph.) are still Leavitt's.

I know people will say great coaches can coach anyone... but I don't think thats ALWAYS the case... sometimes its just luck, or new coaches that fall into programs that run similar programs (or have similar/compatible players)

It's still not the end of the world.

We've lost 2 games... but if we end up winning most of the remaining games (losing 0 or1 more BE game vs WVU and winning vs Miami)

We end up 10-2, or 9-3 + another bowl trip... and people will be singing praises.

Are people really calling for Holtz to be fired? Really?  Seriously?  You don't bring anyone into any job with the realistic expectation of bring them to the top in less than 2 years.  Certainly a conference championship would be the ultimate in year 2, but let's be realistic here.  Let's see some improvement and moving forward first as an attainable, realistic goal.  If we move backwards and don't show major improvement next year then there is a problem, but get real.  He should have at least 5 years before something like that is even brought up.

Bringing Skip Holtz bought time for everyone.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
