Makes me wonder if he ever played sports.

I don't apologize for the die-hards in the front row, but what difference does it make whether or not he played sports? When you're talking about a diverse student body and drawing thousands of fans you're going to get your fair share of non-athletic people. There's not a lot of school spirit involved in berating and name-calling towards the opposite bench and I can see where some people might consider it rude or out of place. Most people aren't going to know that the guy beat his wife.

And last time I checked we still lost the game.

I guess it really doesn't matter... but then I wonder if he watches sports...

I bring up the issue of playing sports to try to put the comments on classless fans in perspective.  I never played college basketball, but in playing high school basketball,  I was subjected to far worse fan behavior including, being hit with coins, thumbtacks and other items (and no, I never beat up a coin or a thumbtack, or a even girlfriend).  

I'd gladly take the verbal berating anyday.  Most good players that are concentrating, seldom here the nonsense coming from the stands anyhow.  The physical contact is not so easily unnoticed

For this guy to get upset that fans are yelling "wifebeater" just indicates to me that he hasn't been around sports very much.

Fans yell stuff all the time, in all venues.  I fail to see how the Sun Dome is any different.  He only exposes his lack of experience on the subject.

Bigbull, as Pres. do you write a response to totally wipe out the negative this guy is spewing and ask other students to join you and find out on their own what the atmosphere can be on Thursday night?

OR do you ignore him and hope he hasn't done too much damage to SBC.

What do you think the average student reading the oracle will take away from this article?  Given our attendance, I am not so sure that most have never witnessed college sports and this will now skew their view or opinions that it is a bad/not fun event.

To respond to this, we have a member writing a letter to the editor regarding this story and are going to try to have him write an article on the Student Bulls Club to try to get students involved.  We will continue to work as hard as we can to get more and more students aware of games in the future and do everything in out power to get them out to the games where we can create a fun atmosphere.  I do not believe that this will hurt attendance at all but it might make us have to work harder to convince more students to come out.

Any guy that beats a woman lays sole claim to the title of classless. I remember a few years back in the NBA playoffs when the Boston fans were on Jason Kidd hard with chants of "wife-beater" and equipped with signs. Too bad the Bulls fans forgot the signs.

Memo to Oracle: when you are struggling to get students to attent USF athletics, those students actually in the stands showing support for their school should be praised, NOT insulted. Get a clue.
